We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorrie Thomas Ross and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lorrie, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Learn, Give, Grow, Love, Laugh
This is my personal mantra. It’s my North Star, my guiding light that reminds me of what I am here to do and how beautiful life can be.
What should our readers know about your business?
Web Marketing Therapy, Inc. is a marketing optimization firm that diagnoses, prescribes and guides healthy, sustainable marketing solutions, getting our clients on the path for long-term success. We put the pieces of your marketing puzzle together so work clicks. We don’t sell services, we show our clients marketing solutions, many times using the assets they already have (people, marketing tools, vendors) and getting the foundation optimized via our proprietary 5-factor marketing success system. When people come into my container of unapologetic leadership, they are going to grow. I have helped clients grow businesses and even close businesses then rebrand and launch wildly wonderful new ones. I have seen clients into abundant retirement, make incredible career transitions and take their businesses to new levels. I credit my success to looking at my work as a journey, not a destination. When I left the confines of corporate work in 2005, I was a solo marketing consultant operating under the name of Lorrie Thomas Web Marketing. Years into my work, I noticed a pattern of my clients calling and needed to “get on my couch” to navigate how to deal with vendors, negotiate contracts, stop overspending, dealing with confidence challenges and more. I was staging interventions on unhealthy behavior and taking the stress out of marketing. I was more than a marketing advisor, I was The Marketing Therapist. Rebranding in 2007 as Web Marketing Therapy, Inc. changed the course of my work, attracted wonderful employees and put our work on the map as a trusted resource to elevate marketing. I love our “coopertition” model where we often work arm-in-arm with companies who might seem like competitors but are aligned to mutually support great clients. Part of my work includes speaking, which is an incredible way to serve and grow. I gave a talk at a women’s conference in Chicago in 2015 on social media marketing that took my work into a new direction. The audience was laughing, we were having so much fun and then the Q/A hit. The questions weren’t just marketing, they were about sales, operations, getting spouses to be supportive, overcoming confidence blocks, facing fears, dealing with difficult vendors and so much more. I listened and felt a need to help women, not only with marketing, operations, and administrative solutions, but the core piece of success – self-work. Today, in addition to running Web Marketing Therapy, I also help women root, sow and grow gorgeous businesses through an incredible program that includes retreats. Rooted women rise. When you are open to being open and work and live on-brand and on-purpose, the sky is the limit!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am so proud to call Atlanta home. When I pick up a friend from the airport and bring them into the city, I almost always insist we stop at South City Kitchen and eat and eat and eat. Spending most of my life in California, I never experienced the decadence of fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits and pimento cheese, so I LOVE sharing southern food with out-of-town visitors. The Atlanta Botanical Garden is a must. I love having lunch at Longleaf Restaurant and Cocktails in the Garden there is such a fun way to see the garden sights. The High is always fabulous and SCAD Fash is one of my favorite gems to take a friend to. In a former life, I worked in fashion and I secretly want to live in the gift shop area, it’s so posh. I don’t let friends leave without walking on the Beltline. And if we had time, I would make sure to take my friend for at least two days in Serenbe, my favorite place to unplug and recharge.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a HUGE shoutout to my family. I would not be where I am at today without my husband Darrell, my gentle giant and rock and my lovely little lady Edyn who inspires me to be the best I can be. And my three fabulous and scrappy pets – Earl Gray, Lady Orange and Countess Chloe La Mancha who keep me sane (and covered in fur).
