We had the good fortune of connecting with Liv Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Liv, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal is freedom. Freedom of mind, time, energy and financial strain. I will be the Beyoncé of the yoga world and the best birth worker out here. I will open my very own holistic wellness center. It will be the first of its kind in Atlanta, so stay tuned. I will lobby for birthers and advocate for them to have desirable deliveries and peaceful pregnancies and postpartum periods, with quality providers that validate their experiences. At some point I will practice law but only as it relates to the birth world and equity in the wellness domain. I will write more books. I will become a consultant for inclusivity and diversity in wellness brands. I will mentor effective prospective doulas and yoga teachers. I will also have more media coverage of my journey.
What should our readers know about your business?
Nothing in the history of my life has been easy, including founding Liv Well. What sets me apart is not only the client care experience and individualized approach, but I am what sets it apart from others. I see many other yoga teachers and doulas that serve the same populations, offer the same services, but I know and see that I am different. I approach clients differently, I go over and beyond, I ask about their days, families, remember and recognize their progress.
Further, with my birth clients I become very familiar and sync in perfectly with their families. I am most proud of finding a way, always. I have had the most interesting cases and had to pivot often. There have been times where I encountered factors in a birth that no one could have predicted all while keeping everyone calm and informed.
However, with yoga I am continuously evolving, each client, each class. There is nothing like getting to a class and having to recreate your entire sequence in your head after you spent time matching it perfectly with your music, because you have to make it accessible to your clients. My adaptability is what sets me apart. Making people feel safe, secured, excited, heard, validated, free, etc is what sets me apart. Lessons I have learned along the way are to charge your worth, use your discernment, follow your heart and take your brain with you.
I would like the world to know my mission. My mission in life is to touch the world with my practice and the way I live my life with gratefulness, mindfulness and challenge. While constantly encouraging others to take care of themselves, be authentically themselves and Liv Well. My goal when I became a yoga teacher, wellness advocate and founder of Liv Well was to positively impact and influence, and I am proud to say after four years I am still doing that. I am excited for more clients and more impact.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
On Monday evening when they arrived we would go to Centennial Olympic Park, because basic Atlanta vibes, head to get JJ’s to go and go to a sporting event, the Avalon, or Marietta Square.
On Tuesday we would go to Canoe for brunch with the outside view, chill for a bit and then journey to The Home Depot Backyard for night time programming. There are so many options, but my favorite would be Full Body Bootcamp with Royal Physique and Hip Hop Yoga with Jaimee Ratliff.
On Wednesday the schedule would go as follows: we would go to East Palisades Trail, eat at the Big Ketch, and then head to Ponce City Market’s Skyline Park.
Thursday, we would go to Morgan Falls overlook, go kayaking and then eat at Rays on the River.
In the day time on Friday we would go to Six Flags, hopefully the Georgia Scorcher is working. On Friday evening. I would take them to Finn and Feathers on Crescent Avenue.
Saturday, we would hike up Arabia Mountain and then head to La Petit Marche in Kirkwood. We would head to the beltline to walk around and then Saturday night, head to Slutty Vegan.
Sunday morning would be spent at Breakfast at Barneys and then Piedmont Park. There could be a festival of some sort and then I would take them back to the airport.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say that my success is dedicated to my God and my village. Sounds so cheesy to say but without my faith, my husband telling me I am the best, my mom making sure I knew I could do anything, my family rallying around me, and my friends being my ultimate hype men and hype ladies, I really would not be here. I am so very rich in people and experiences. My clients trust me and I love providing a safe space for them. The biggest factor after that is me, no secret sauce or recipe. I show up authentically and I believe my brand and my success is also attributed to that. I bring every piece of me to my yoga classes, prenatal education, postpartum sessions, and births as well. Everyone knows Liv is going to be Liv. People know what to expect and also know that I am consistent as I am transparent. And, with all of the above mentioned notions, I can’t help but to be successful.
