Meet Le’Anna Johnson | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Le’Anna Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Le’Anna, what inspires you?
As crazy and as different as it may sound, my past inspires me a lot. Actually more than anything. Coming from the background and lifestyle that I came from, as well as the environment I was put in while growing up, it pushes me to give myself different by any means. The outcome of my surroundings were normally becoming a product of your environment and that’s what drives me to break them generational curses and be somebody to the world. I always wanted to give myself a different lifestyle than what I was offered or what people expected me to have.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an upcoming artist from Ohio. I’ve been making music since I was about 11 years old in my aunt and uncles basement off of a laptop mic and shooting videos from the laptop camera. I would also make videos in their car of 60 second raps that I wrote to try and go viral on Facebook. I think what sets me apart from others would be how genuine, passionate, and real I am with my music. Every song I write has a story within it and its so deep that you could illustrate and vision it. I write about genuine feelings, things that Ive been through and what others could relate to. You could listen to the lyrics and get chills because you can feel the pain in the music. Music has always been a way for me to vent and open up, its always been therapeutical and I think what I speak about and the feeling you get when listening is what music is missing now a days and why its so different compared to what’s out right now. I think I’m most proud of how long I’ve stuck with it. Becoming successful in the music industry doesn’t happen over night, its a process and an investment and that’s probably the hardest part is believing in yourself when nobody else does and continuously being willing to invest into your craft, which is how I got to where I am today professionally. I would be lying if I said it was easy. This process has probably been the hardest thing to do, only because I don’t have that inside support that I need or a team to do it with. Overcoming this challenge has just been staying true to myself and never forgetting the vision and the end goal. The lessons Ive learned along the way is to never give up. If you truly have a dream, stick with it, despite who sees your vision. You’re not given a voice and a talent for nothing, there’s purpose behind it and just because the ones around you don’t see it, doesn’t mean that other people don’t need it. If the world could know anything about my brand and story, it would be the realness and the struggle behind it. I believe that there’s purpose behind what everyone goes through and my story became my story for the inspiration that others may need. I became a voice for so many people. I do believe that I’m the chosen one.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had to bring someone to Ohio, I would take them to Cedar Point or Kalahari for entertainment. I think that’s the most exciting thing Ohio has. There really isn’t much to do here because everyone who does live here travels out of state to have fun. There are bigger cities like Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati that have good food places and hang out spots but cedar point and Kalahari would be the go to.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My producer Shawn Jackson (Savvy On The Track) is the best mentor I could have ever met. Even outside of business and doing music together, we created a lifelong bond and friendship. The support that comes from him is unexplainable. From downloading my music, sharing it, and even pushing me to make it is forever appreciated. Its different when someone isn’t invested in your craft for the benefit but truly because they believe and want to be a part of your story. Theres been times he paid to have my music sent off, free studio sessions, invitations to shows, and promotion on his pages without even asking. Huge shoutout to him on a professional and friendship level.
