Hi Laneatrice, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Dope Pens “We Are More Than Music, We Are An Experience”

It all starts with a team of writers that have an endless passion for music, for voices, and for sound….

Who am I, My name is Laneatrice Martin known to many as La~La, I am the founder and CEO of Dope Pens. I am from Hartford, Connecticut but now residing in Atlanta, Georgia.
Alongside the legendary Ian Burke, I put together a writers camp allowing aspiring artists and songwriters to vibe and write music amongst accredited producers and songwriters that have placements in the industry. From there things took off and some of the relationships blossomed into what has now formulated into our own team of writers that I call “Dope Pens”. I manage a team of 7 writers, who are all very talented artists as well. They’ve worked with the likes of Beyonce, Rhianna and Boosie Baddazz just to name a few. Amongst the team, we have deals with Jermaine Dupree, Sony ATV, Republic Records and more. My video production team has worked with countless superstars in the industry such as Latto, Rick Ross, Young Joc and more.

I offer packages to other aspiring artists or writers to assist with songwriting, video production, artist development and project management. My vision is to create timeless music with like minded individuals that are ready to Grind, Hustle, and Execute all that comes before us in this industry of music.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The recording studio is definitely our home away from home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shoutout my Dope Pens Family. Lets start with my A&R and Video Director, Director Hollywood, he is the mastermind behind the artistic development and sound and visuals of my artists. He keeps them on their toes and shows them how powerful their voices really can be. My team consists of the following: Duley Trucc, Neshadeshaun, The Remidi, L3X Pendragon, Bobbi Baddnewz, E. Merc, Ursula Yancy, Duane Huff, CMK Crown Me King, and Hartford Po just to mention a few!
