Meet Laketa Nicole | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laketa Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laketa, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
It’s crazy because I have always loved coloring and was always very precise with it. While in college I met this girl with the most beautiful brows. 1 day I asked her who did her and she said her and she charged me $5 to do mine. Long story short I was paying her $5 a day because I dint know how to sleep in makeup. I watched her for a month straight do my brows and then I start practicing on myself, after that lots of people start asking me to do theirs so I would say the people had me pursue my career and I love painting, coloring etc so it was just for Me
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got here by being persistent. My challenge was always staying consistent. In this new world of technology you have to stay on the internet. Being a private person and fear of judgement has always been challenging for me to post lots of content. That is something I’m still overcoming. The lessons I have learned is that you are your own worst critic. Let go and let God do the rest. I want the world to know, I’m here to stay. I’m fighting through my battles and they will see More of me this year
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Mmmm I’m a simple eater and all my girls know that so we would definitely go to Long Horn for food & drinks. We would definitely hang pool side of some roof top with our wine glasses catching up and enjoying each other’s company. Later we’ll probably swing through King Of Diamonds to get some action.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would give my recognition to my little sister Lexus and her friends. They would let me practice on them knowing I didn’t know what I was doing. I was applying tape to their eyebrows to get my lines straight. Remember I’m very precise. It would take me almost 2 hours to do 1 person and they never gave up on me, they talked trash but they never gave up. My little sister would even come to celebrity shoots with me to pretend to be my personal assistant, I had her doing hair and all lol. Thanks Sis! I love you!
