We had the good fortune of connecting with Ladieslovewave and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LadiesLoveWave, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my clothing brand began with a simple idea: instead of always spending money on clothes, why not invest in making my own and earning a profit? As I moved forward with this idea, I started thinking about the message I wanted my brand to convey, which had to be a reflection of both my personal style and values. I realized I wanted my brand to embody confidence and the pursuit of greatness, which led me to the perfect name: Phenomenon.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of myself for actually taking the first step in doing what I want and dedicating myself to seeing it through, even when I didn’t get the reactions I wanted. The way I got to where I am today professionally is by simply falling in love with what I was doing, pushing myself and creating ways to keep the spark alive in my work. I also adapted my mindset to not only love one part of it but also the business side of things. You asked if it was easy, and my answer is no, most definitely not. I overcame my challenges by understanding that nothing in life worth having is ever easy. We came into this world not knowing how to do anything, but over time, we learn how to operate through life. With time, struggle creates greatness as long as you continue to push beyond your definition of struggle.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are that nobody can change what you want in life, only you can. Another lesson is that to be the boss, you have to operate like one, both in business and in daily life. What I want people to know about me, my brand, and my story is that I’m a firm believer in the power of persistence and self-belief. My brand, Phenomenon, is more than just clothing; it’s a mindset. It represents the journey of overcoming doubt, pushing through struggles, and achieving greatness. I want people to know that whatever they dream of achieving is possible, as long as they stay dedicated and confident in their abilities. My story isn’t just about success, it’s about the process, the lessons, and the growth that come with chasing your vision, no matter how tough the road gets.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were to visit for a week long trip, I’d show them food spots they couldn’t find outside of Atlanta especially Black-owned businesses or those that are unique to Atlanta or originated here. We’d visit landmarks, museums, and anything that embodies Atlanta culture. To me, the most interesting and fun places to check out are those that are artistic, creative, and unique. Since I love fashion, I’d take them to the Atlanta Streetwear Market to introduce them to people I know and showcase all the unique styles.

Next, we’d explore iconic neighborhoods like Little Five Points for its artistic vibe, unique shops, and street art, or head to Ponce City Market for good food and shopping. For nightlife, we’d visit local lounges or rooftop bars with great views of the city. To get some nature in, a day at Piedmont Park or walking the Atlanta BeltLine would be a nice break from the city hustle. We’d wrap up the week by catching a live music event or attending an Atlanta-based event that reflects the city’s vibrant creative scene.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I would like to give a shoutout to God, because without Him, nothing is possible. Next, I want to thank my family for always supporting me, even if they didn’t fully understand all the ventures I was involved in. They’ve always shown me love, support, and shared their knowledge and ideas. I also want to shout out my friends who played a role in my growth whether it was something as simple as a repost or as big as buying my clothes and spreading the word. Lastly, I’d like to thank the negative people. Your disbelief, discouraging words, and hate only fueled my drive to achieve even greater things, so thank you.
