We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystal Henry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krystal, why did you pursue a creative career?
My parents worked hard to get their education and to prove themselves in both their positions until retirement. Their expectation was for me to go to college no matter what. I didn’t know what to do, but after testing my professor told me I had an analytical mind and should try accounting. In my third year of college, I wanted to pursue something else, however it would take an additional year and money. I choose to finish and get my BS in Accounting. I went to Paul Quinn College, a struggling HBCU, that offered no internship in the early 90’s. I began working in a boring industry that had an enormous amount of oppressive and systematic racist practices.
My excitement, enjoyment, and fulfillment came from my doing events, weddings, modeling, dancing, preaching, speaking and teaching on the side. I love helping people in different creative ways.
For years I had been coaching people and didn’t know that it was something you could get paid for! My stylist explained that she thought I should get certified, because I had been coaching her for years.
My job became outsourced just as the pandemic started. This was the perfect time for me to pursue something outside of accounting. I began taking a course which put everything into perspective. And that is how I became a success and mindset coach.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One of the greatest achievement for me came through ministry. My husband and I began Power of the Gospel Ministries in our living room on September 10, 2000. What started from a bible study at Paul Quinn College, birthed a ministry in three years. We worked fulltime jobs and ministered to God’s people. In that last twenty years, we moved from house to house, building to building until we landed on Riverside Rd in Dallas, TX. God blesses us to pay off the property in seven years.
Doctors said I was not able to give birth, but our son was born in the 6th year of our marriage, In the 9th year of our church, I was stricken with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. God said, “Breast Cancer is a Silent killer, but I would not be a Silent Survivor!” The Mighty Kings Basketball ministry was birthed that year as well. Through the years this ministry has helped over 1000 kings, queens, and their families by the gospel in motion on the basketball court. It has also opened doors for recent high school graduates to enter college by receiving scholarships. Some are the first in their families to go to college.
I learned where much is given much more is required. I wrote my first book called the Elements of You and started Empower Mint Ministries in the thirteenth year of ministry. I began traveling and speaking. I taught myself to build websites, commercials, produce logos, design events, and help others create businesses. Also in this year my best friend since third grade lost her mother and sister, who were also like my family as well. I performed both of there funerals within a three month period. They were there for me during cancer, however I was there in their death. In the fourteenth year of ministry, my younger sister died in her sleep and left my two nephews behind. Again, she was their for me through cancer, but I was their for her death. You don’t know how strong you can be until you have to be. Illness and Death couldn’t hold me, my ministry, my marriage, and my career, because God has the final say. I overcame by Chemotherapy, radiation therapy and God therapy! I allowed His word to work! I posted scriptures everywhere and listening to His word and gospel music day and night.
In the nineteenth year of ministry my husband was stricken with prostate cancer, exactly ten years after my cancer. We prayed and he recovered. God told us to move and sell our property. We thought we were mistaken, however the pandemic happened. It ended up being a blessing for the ministry to go virtual before the shutdown. Now here we are shedding what God says and still producing more. Power Lift Podcast was released in our twentieth year. We began receiving invitations for TV, radio and other podcasts interviews.
My newest book is now available for presale, called “Made to Lead Millions”. I encourage you do not quit on your story because what you create may change the lives of others forever. Just think if I stayed in my WHAT IF stage? I would have never made to my What IS stage! It’s your turn to achieve your destined place.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Get ready to gain weight because Dallas, TEXAS is full of great stops. Every lady loves shopping, so first place to go is Sam Moon’s for a warehouse full of affordable fun jewelry and purses. Then off to the Galleria Mall and great meal at Grand Lux. We would head downtown to see the Ross Perot Museum and the Dallas Aquarium. We would lodge at the Great Wolf Lodge and enjoying hanging with friends and family in the indoor water park. We would hit the Bishop Arts District and stroll down the streets people watching and enjoying the scene. We’d stop in for a bite at Ellen’s. We would hit the Allen outlet mall and spend a good amount of the day shopping and slip into Bonefish Grill just across the street.
We’d hit the Comedy Club in Addison and stop at Ida Claire for live music and more food. We would spend the next day relaxing at Spa Castle in Carrollton, TX. We would hang out at Legacy West listening to music and eating.
