We had the good fortune of connecting with Donna McDonald & Judy Goldberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Donna McDonald & Judy Goldberg, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
Not as glamorous as it appears

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Muse & Co. is a fine art gallery representing the highest quality contemporary and transitional original fine art from emerging and established artists. We also rent our gallery out for smaller events. We treat our artists as our family and our clients as friends. We believe in making fine art accessible and approachable, and offer complimentary in home consultations and work with industry professionals to help source art for their clients. We also recently incorporated design as one of our services as both of us love all things beautiful. Some of our greatest accomplishments are being having artwork featured in several popular HGTV shows including HGTV Green Home, movies including What to Expect When Expecting and TV series including The Originals. We were in the Roswell Historic District for 10 years and due to tremendous influx of restaurants which created an exorbitant increase in rental rates, many galleries were forced to look outside of Roswell to continue operating successfully. Through various art contacts, an opportunity came up to try pop-ups in one of the Marietta Square businesses owned by a former gallerist, which eventually led us to having a permanent space. There were many times we considered closing our business but through fate and wanting our artists continue having an avenue to create and sell their art, we decided to remain open and are now happily planted and growing in the very supportive and thriving art community. We have learned to always support and build the art community around us, whether other gallerists or local businesses. That there is room for everyone. We are always better together! We also believe in our artists remaining true who they are as an artist and their art. We want people to say that when they visit us, they feel at home, that we carry exceptional work and have something for everyone. Since we are new to Marietta Square, we want everyone to know we are grateful to be here and to be surrounded by other amazing galleries.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It would depend on our best friend’s interests but anything art and food related is a given. So many great pockets in Atlanta to midtown, to hear in Marietta Square, to historic Woodstock to Alpharetta. Our fav spots in Marietta Square: Mac’s Chophouse, Spring, L on North and all the great shops and galleries here Our fav historic Roswell spots: Osteria Mattone, Crazy Love Coffee for amazing coffee and atmosphere Our fav intown restaurants and places: too many to name, but a must try is Antico Pizza, places in Ponce City Market and Krog Street Market, and taking a stroll on the belt line, High Museum, Piedmont Park and the list goes on and on The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
One of the owners of Muse & Co, Donna McDonald, opened Timothy Michael Gallery in Roswell with the encouragement of owners of Ford Smith Fine Art and Taylor Kinzel Fine Art with her husband and fine artist, Timothy Michael in 2005. If not for their support, they would not have taken the leap into becoming gallerists. During the recession, Timothy Michael decided to focus solely on painting, so Donna brought on her best friends, Sheila Grubb and Judy Goldberg as co-owners and Muse & Co. Fine Art was born. Sheila moved out of state and the gallery moved to Marietta Square and have been in this wonderful art community since 2020. We are grateful to our artists, patrons, and other gallerists in Roswell and Marietta Square for their continued support throughout our many transitions.
