We had the good fortune of connecting with KP_ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KP_, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I never realized how much time I dedicated to working until the pandemic started. Once I started working from home, I noticed that I was missing out on so many activities because I was away at work and doing overtime. I definitely try to dedicate more time to myself now and focus on my mental health and happiness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been making music since 2017. I always knew that I could sing but I didn’t realize the potential I had. I grew up in the church and sung in the church choir and that has played a big role in my music today. I went to college and a received a bachelors and masters degree. After those accomplishments I finally started to focus on my craft. I am an R&B/Soul singer. I think what sets me apart from others is my tone and delivery. I honestly don’t think people ever realize how powerful my voice is until I actually start singing. Whenever I am not working my 9-5, I am creating new music or performing. Social media has also played a part in my success. Posting consistently has allowed me to be seen all over the world. I’ve learned over time that this career isn’t easy, but I love it. My main goal whenever I perform is to inspire someone in the audience. If I can brighten at least one person’s day then my job is done.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I currently reside in the DMV, Northern VA. One of my favorite sports for happy hour is Walrus Oyster & Ale House in Oxon Hill, MD. They have great food and happy hour special. Old Town Alexandria also has great restaurants. I’d also recommend checking out the museums in DC. For nightlife there are great bars on U Street in DC

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends. They have supported me every step of the way on my musical journey
