We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiara G. Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiara G., how does your business help the community?
ATL Kula, a health & wellness studio, creates space for people to thrive and be well. We say creates space because our vision is made of an everyday, active effort to uplift. We believe that when given the right environment, people thrive. It’s both a physical and figurative creation of space where people can come to a nature-inspired studio to feed our koi and explore the power of movement; and, they can also come to an accepting environment that encourages genuine expression while calling for constant progress towards being our best selves and creating a great community. Whether through our exercise classes, social events, or natural products, we are a staple in the community. A one-stop shop here to walk alongside our customers wherever they may be on their journey. For when we take care of each other, the world is a better place.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
ATL Kula is something my husband and I are so, so proud of. Building a business that creates space for others to make their health & wellness a priority is some of our most rewarding work. Atlanta is a beautiful city made of all different types of people with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. We are here to service them all in a true, relatable, fun way. What further sets us apart is our commitment to holistic wellness and our amazing classes consisting of the yoga, Pilates and barre disciplines all under one roof. In addition, our focus from day one has been on diversity and inclusivity within our team and in our community. Lastly, another major differentiator is that our in-studio experience has extended to our innovative online studio, kulaSTREAM, where classes and lifestyle videos are there to empower people wherever they may be. We are where we are as a business because we think of people first – from our team to our customers to our community. We also believe in continuously learning and adapting. This is how we thrive through the tough seasons and has been a major lesson in business.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Yes! A couple of my favorites are Just Add Honey Tea Company for the best tea selection and Slutty Vegan for the best burgers (and energy) in town.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I first thank God for my story – I will always believe in taking leaps of faith and am grateful for his grace and goodness to look after those leaps. My husband Corey is my rock. He’s always loved me for who I am while always speaking to everything I can be. He’s my best friend, an amazing leader, and an incredible business partner. My parents who have been an amazing support system in shaping my journey to success. My sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., for instilling in me the importance of sisterhood and working in service to all mankind. The City of Atlanta, my home away from home. This vibrant, innovative city has a beautiful identity and culture. I am grateful to call it home. Great books. From The Bible to my current reads The Mirage Magician by Ryan Adkins and Good to Great by Jim Collins. Constantly learning and exploring deserves much recognition in my story.
