Meet Kelsey Crawford | Dancer, Photographer and Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelsey Crawford and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelsey, why did you pursue a creative career?
I honestly never had any other desires in life. I was always pulled towards visual and performing arts. Even as a child, my mom told me so many stories about me singing, dancing, and writing stories.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Dancer/Choreographer, Photographer and Model. I’m mostly proud of myself for overcoming the obstacles that have been thrown my way. For persevering even when I want to give up. That is something that a lot of people don’t tell you about. There are so many moments of self doubt. Overcoming that alone is such an accomplishment.
I used to hate anything business related. I was always the one who said “I’m a creative , I’m not with all that business stuff.” I had to learn the hard way that if you want to monetize your art you HAVE to learn the business side of things. It is vital. I also learned that everyone’s journey is their own. We tend to see other people and their lives and subconsciously compare ourselves. Tunnel vision is a concept I often took for granted but soon realized that no matter how cliche it may sound, it helps with staying focused on self.
I want the world to know that it’s okay to be your authentic self. I want the world to see me in every creative venture I pursue. Always value who you are and don’t get lost in everyone else’s sauce.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would have to go to Big Dave’s Cheese-stakes. I would take my friends to Civil Rights Museums, Six Flags, the Bamboo Forest, and Stone Mountain. Each place is important to me in its own way. I value the little things and I’m very nostalgic.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family, friends, and loved ones. I have an AMAZING support system around me and my family and friends have always uplifted me in every artistic/creative venture that I have taken. I’m also a very spiritual person and I can say I wouldn’t be anywhere close to where I am today without God.
