We had the good fortune of connecting with Katrina & Karl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katrina & Karl, how do you think about risk?
Life is nothing more than risks. We take risks everyday, it’s just that people place different values on different risks. Walking out of the house everyday is a risk people take. However they won’t when it comes to living their dreams. We just chose to place the same value on all risk to achieve our dreams and goals.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are the hosts of a weekly podcast called Breaking Hollywood that covers Hood News aka Tea Time, Music, Film/Tv, World News/Politics and Self-care. We are also the owners of Sooner or Later media, which is dedicated to producing and telling stories of people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

We got to where we are today through hard work, positive attitude and being amazing human beings. Oh yeah, and we’re pretty funny too.

Hell Nah it wasn’t easy. We’ve had many nights of tears, setbacks, let downs and disappointments. We’ve lost so called friends and business partners. Been looked over for jobs and attacked. However, we knew there was a purpose for it all. That’s where our tribe came in. When we were at our lowest they would remind us of our value, strength and purpose. At the end of the day, our main goal is to touch and inspire people to be their true and authentic selves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Karl – “I can actually answer this because it just happened. If you don’t know we are best friends. I had been having some medical and personal issues starting the beginning of the year. It was a really rough time and it was taking me out. Trina called me while I was on the road and told me she had a surprise. Well, the surprise was a weekend trip to Vegas. We flew to Vegas, had a limo waiting for us. We stayed at the Aria penthouse suite. We went shopping, ate at Barcode, which is amazing. Had dinner at the Top of the World restaurant at the stratosphere more amazing. Went to area 15, were we did this zip line race, which I won, and just enjoyed having fun. I’m so insanely grateful to her. She is one of the reason I’m still alive today. She has the whole thing planned out. It was amazing. Along with my mommy, sister, my niece princess, dad and my bubba. They all kept me going.”

Trina – “ Well what about me? You make it seem like you don’t do nothing for me. Ummm, 2020 was the hardest year of my life. Battling to regain my strength after a major survey, not knowing what was wrong with me and losing both of my grandparents, my energy was at an all time low. But my best friend Kaaaaaaarl, was consistent. Called me everyday, text everyone morning and did whatever he could to make me smile and remind me of my strength and who I am. Material things are great but nothing is better than having someone you can depend on. Along with my family and other best friend. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ummm… ourselves! Just joking. We know it hasn’t only been us. We owe a lot to our parents, family and friends. We’ve both been blessed with an insane group of loving, supporting and encouraging tribe members. They are very deserving of praise when it comes to our success.
