We had the good fortune of connecting with Katamara Summerville and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katamara, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Second to be being consistent, the most important factor behind the success of my brand is the fact that it is relatable. People resonate with experience(how a brand makes them feel). Our brand’s focus is centered around sisterhood. As a black owned brand, our target market is women of color. The tone and feel of the brand caters to “black luxury” but we also incorporate the “homegirl” experience because the backbone of a successful woman is her inner circle/tribe. Keeping that at the forefront, I believe is what has allowed the brand of “Dimples & Diamonds” to be successful and maintain it’s success these past four years.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Dimples & Diamonds is an community of women who stand BOLD in faith while in pursuit of PURPOSE. We are a sisterhood embarking upon a journey called “The Diamond LIFE” , which is the abundant life promised through Christ. Dimples & Diamonds was birthed through a personal void. There’s a saying that goes, “When you change your circle, you change your life.” When I made the decision to upgrade my life, it was a natural progression that those without similar interest would fall away. I decided to host a small meet up in February 2016 as a way to network and bring together like-minded women who also desired a life change. A little over a dozen women answered the call to attend. Off of the success of that event came the inspiration to host a purposeful pajama party titled “The Ultimate Sleepover”, in which attendees participated in empowerment activities and corporate prayer. Pictures from the sleepover circulated on social media and the rest is history. What started out as a simple meet up has now become one of the fastest growing women’s empowerment communities in the US. With chapters in Savannah and Atlanta Georgia, Jacksonville FL, Charlotte NC, Baltimore MD, Houston TX, Los Angeles CA, and outward. The goal of ‘Dimples & Diamonds’ is to provide you with connections, community, content, and curated events. The Diamond LIFE is choosing to live a life of fullness in every area of it. The focus of “Diamond Living” is living in the abundance of peace, prosperity, self care, health, and spiritual wealth. “The Diamond LIFE Society” is our gang and experiences is our THANG. We don’t just do events but experiences that include themed brunches/dinners, luxury retreats, and international getaways. With the pandemic, our ability to host ‘in person‘ events have become a bit limited so as with a lot of businesses, we have had to pivot. We are in the midst of launching, “The Diamond LIFE Experience”, a luxury line of products to embellish AT HOME.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m here for all things luxury so if it were a week long trip, we would be headed to Chateau Elan, a winery and resort located north of Atlanta.
