We had the good fortune of connecting with Karyne Tinord and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karyne, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As someone of Haitian descent, witnessing the aftermath of the earthquake deeply moved me. Seeing the youth in Haiti, and recognizing similar needs around the world, sparked a sense of urgency within me. I realized that children globally, not just in Haiti, were facing challenges accessing basic necessities like clothing. When I discovered the absence of organizations specifically addressing this need, I felt compelled to take action. With unwavering support from the IRS, the business library, and my incredible network of family and friends, YTC was born. Our mission became clear: to support youth worldwide by providing and repairing clothing, ensuring that no child goes without this fundamental necessity.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by a deep sense of purpose and a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. What sets me apart is my unwavering dedication to serving those in need, particularly youth, and my ability to mobilize resources and support to achieve our goals.
One of my proudest achievements is founding Yadestiny Treasure Chest (YTC) and seeing it grow from a simple idea to an impactful nonprofit organization that supports youth around the world. It wasn’t an easy journey, especially navigating the complexities of starting and running a nonprofit, but I was fueled by my passion and determination to make a positive impact.
Along the way, I’ve learned valuable lessons about resilience, perseverance, and the power of community. Every challenge I faced only strengthened my resolve and taught me the importance of collaboration and adaptability.
What I want the world to know about YTC is that we are more than just a charity providing clothing. We are a symbol of hope and resilience, demonstrating what is possible when people come together to support one another. Our story is a testament to the transformative power of compassion and the belief that, with enough determination and support, we can create a brighter future for all.
