We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeneka Jenae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeneka, how do you think about risk?
I think risk is apart of life. You have to be willing to do things that scare you in order to get to where you want to be. The saying “Go big or go home” is something I try my best to not only incorporate in my acting career but as well as my personal life. If it doesn’t scare me then I am doing something wrong.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an actress. I believe what sets me apart from others is the fact that I am always learning and growing as I continue on this path that I have chosen. I am most proud of how far I have come. Looking at me now you would never know that I was super shy and had stage fright when I was younger. Getting here was not easy but I appreciate every “No” I received along the way. It helped to make me the person I am today. A couple lessons I learned are when one door closes another will open and that no matter what if it’s for you then it will be yours, just stay ready for when your time comes. One thing I want the world to know about my brand is that what you see is what you get. I am me and I don’t try to be anyone else unless it’s for a role lol.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a homebody but if I had to suggest some places to check out I would say the Aquarium. It’s super fun and educational.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my husband Chris, my mom Rosie, and my best friend Charisse. Having a village is truly important especially when you have a career such as mine. These 3 speak life into me on the daily. They listen and encourage me when I am having an off day or frustrated from an audition and continue to push me to be my best. I am beyond thankful to have them all in my corner.
