We had the good fortune of connecting with Jai-Leta Colvard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jai-Leta, how does your business help the community?
At Just Jai Wear, our social impact is rooted in empowering women—especially breast cancer survivors—through innovative, functional activewear that supports both physical and emotional healing. Every product we create is designed with purpose, but beyond apparel, we drive awareness through initiatives like the Pinky Promise collection and fund critical mental health support via our nonprofit, Space of Grace, Inc. Whether it’s helping a woman feel confident post-surgery or funding counseling services, we’re not just building a brand—we’re building a movement of healing, resilience, and sisterhood that transcends borders.”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I spent over 20 years in the IT field, most recently as a program manager in cybersecurity. But my journey took a turn when I made a personal commitment to get in the best shape of my life while managing hypertension. In that process, I realized so many women—especially survivors and high-performing professionals—wanted the same: to look good, feel good, and reclaim their power. That’s what led me to create Just Jai Wear—a fitness apparel brand with tummy control and functional features, designed to support both physical transformation and mental wellness. I’m most proud of building a brand that empowers women to show up strong, confident, and comfortable in their own skin. I’ve faced setbacks, doubts, and reinvention—but the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that purpose evolves from pain. And my purpose is clear: to create space for healing, strength, and sisterhood.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the incredible community of women—survivors, supporters, and sisters—who’ve walked this journey with me. In particular, I want to thank Melody Melton, “Melody Marie” Fitness, personal trainer, for working closely with me behind the scenes to make my dream become reality along with countless hours to drive health and wellness in the community. She has been instrumental in saving lives of so many women. Her strength, vulnerability, and unwavering support are the heartbeat of Just Jai Wear and Space of Grace is truly appreciated. I also want to honor my mother whose resilience and grace continue to inspire everything I do. And finally, to every mentor and believer who saw the vision before the world did thank you for pouring into me so I could pour into others.
