We had the good fortune of connecting with Jabria Luddley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jabria, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson that my business has taught me is that I can do anything I set my mind to. A lot of the times we become fearful of the unknown which causes us to become complacent and comfortable with life. I knew that cleaning was something I actually love to do. Cleaning is literally therapeutic for me. I taught myself everything I needed to know in order to become a legal business in the state of Georgia. The whole process was a self taught journey and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. There was a lot of trail and error. I even became discouraged and wanted to give up more than once. Initially it was a side job for extra money. However, as of August 2021 I am a full time entrepreneur. Some days are better than others considering the fact that I am both owner and operator. It was a huge leap of faith that I am glad I took. I cant wait to see what else is in store for me!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
So as you may know I was initially Miss Lucy’s Cleaning Co. and decided to complete start over and revamp my entire business from the structure, prices, name, everything! Shine and Sage Cleaning Co. LLC knows that a clean space can have a huge impact on how someone functions. It’s proven that when we feel better we do better. Well a clean space helps us to feel better and when its clean, you can literally FEEL IT! However, cleaning isn’t as fun or is very time consuming for a lot of people. That’s where I come in. I make sure that my clients space is so clean, that they can feel a difference. Having that time to do whatever else, besides cleaning in return has a substantial effect on their energy. Hence, the Shine in our name. Sage was traditionally used for many of years to clear out negative energy, improving mood and reducing stress and anxiety and a number of other things. Hence the Sage in our name as well. I’ve also added sage bundles as add on to my clients service. There a variety of ones to choose from! Starting a business, running a business, growing a business, making changes to it and the whole business aspect is never easy. I overcame this challenges by leaning on my support system who happens to also be business owners themselves. It takes a village for sure. I’ve learned a slew of lessons along the way. The main one was do not give up. I’m not quite where I want to be. I have along way to go. I can say though, so far I am a lot stronger than before I had a business. I want people to know that I am proud of my business, its name alone and have attracted so many like minded clients. It’s amazing. I take pride in what I do and I actually love it. I hope to bring people on to that team that feels the same.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The best part about Atlanta is that there are soooooo many places to go and hang. I have to get back out. I kind of forgot about alot of places I had in mind due to the shut down. The Belt line, Ponce City Market would be my suggestions for day time food and drink places. Also, riding the scooters on the belt line adds some extra fun. For night time bars and club scenes, I would recommend Edgewood!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As always my mom deserves a little credit and recognition. My mom will jump in and help me from time to time but not with just advice and ideas. My mom helps me cleanings along with working her fulltime job! I like to call us the mommy-daughter duo. My clients love her just as much as I do!
