Meet J.K. | Lead Singer, and Brainchild behind the band “DAYDRNKRZ”

We had the good fortune of connecting with J.K. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi J.K., how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in Little Rock, AR, and raised in Atlanta, GA.
To be honest it’s an honor to really grow up in the A. So much culture, and vision here.
This city is such a melting pot of different sounds, personalities, and visuals.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I truly think we (DAYDRNKRZ) have created a sonic experience for the listener that is different from the norm. We have fun with songs, party anthems, but at the same time bring it back to real life issues. We write a beach song for your off day at the water, and in the same breath hit you in the feels with a relationship song that can pull at your heart strings.
And NO….the journey hasn’t been easy. But anything worth pursuing is never easy. A lot of ups and downs over the years. But the main thing is to keep pushing, Keep trying!
God first in everything we do.
Always forward. “The only easy day was yesterday” right!!

Our band is made up of individuals that all have the same work ethic, and dreams. All hard working, hustling, and goal driven individuals. It makes for a good vibe!

We’ve all learned a lot of lessons… but the most important lesson is to never give up, keep going!

This is a crazy world we live in nowadays.
I don’t care where you stand politically or spiritually. Just be a good person. Always kindness and Love! Because LOVE overtakes any obstacles.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Great question…
Umm first and foremost we are going to catch a Braves game! Truist Park is so much fun. And the Battery! Hands down that’s the spot. I’m a die hard Braves fan so it’s an absolute must.
Beyond that, depends what they are into. Probably a show at “The Masquerade” or even slide over to “The Clermont Lounge” just to give a bit of nostalgia for the A.
Once again Atlanta has so many spots, dives and places that are absolutely legendary.
The vibe is different from one area to another.
And the city has changed so much over the years.
But we definitely need to grab wings from some of the top spots. Magic City, Trap Wingz ATL…etc

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank “myself” for never giving up on my dreams!!
Haha seriously though, there’s so many individuals that I could spend countless hours giving shout outs too, and credit for their encouragement, love, and support.
But at the end of the day….this is, and always has been a team effort.

I will speak on the now. We finally found a label in “SKP” that truly understood what we were trying to do. Nikki Hexum and Nick Hexum (311) really took us under their wings, and showed us how to move, and shake in a productive, and positive direction.
Their guidance is never ending. That kind of support from a label has never been a thing. They are breaking the mold and breaking new ground of the bond between label and creatives. It’s completely, and totally a “Family Environment”.
