Meet Isiah Miller | Fashion Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Isiah Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isiah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my business was I loveeee fashion and style basically me wanting different clothing in my style due to me not finding it in stores. So I got up one day and said “Isiah you finna teach yourself how to sew” and once I made pieces everyone was asking where I got it from and I said I made it and they wanted it that’s what made my sewing brand pop off!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Fashion is art to me,so I create and sew through finding the right story behind each custom piece and I love to see what I come up with when I just freestyle on my mannequins. Half the time I never know what I want to make I just start pinning and cutting! I started out sewing everything by hand til I got tired and said to myself “boy go ahead and learn that sewing machine” Was it easy?? Nooo nothing never is so I stayed dedicated to learning and teaching myself everything naturally and authentically,I started a model agency under my first brand Vintage Suede and used them as my muse so it made creating a little easier as well. You know you have thing that teach you so much but the lesson I learned is, you can’t do everything by yourself if you trying to be a great brand and I was doing everything by myself so if I don’t tell anybody anything else it would be “build a reliable team” I want the world to know to create stuff you love and find your community cause they are also great supporters that’s how I keep pushing and working hard at everything I do!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have 3 places I call home technically. Each place I loveee the downtown and uptown areas! The buildings make me want to create and I don’t know why but it’s just a spark hahahaha but if I had to choose from each place I’ll say
Macon: The Musuem Of Arts And Science
Atlanta: Botanical Gardens
Charlotte: The Mint Museum

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to Recognize my mom Rhonda Miller she is a folk artist and always pushed me to be greater in my path and my siblings especially my sisters Tashia and Alicia they play a major role in so much I do and ideas when I feel like I can’t think of something new!!
