We had the good fortune of connecting with Hope Hodges and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hope, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
What drives me is my family, my son and where I come from. Atlanta has so much history from the celebrities, to conventions, to the Olympics being hosted here the year I was born, to my Grandfather “Shipwreck” having the first African American restaurant on Auburn Avenue. I am continuing a legacy and although the road may seem long and hard I know I’ll inspire the younger generations of black women to put themselves and their dreams first. With God you can seriously do anything you dream of.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a makeup artist is the best thing that ever happened to me, I have always loved makeup even as a child. It is enriching to be able to remind other women how beautiful they truly are! Make up isn’t just a product or something to cover up or hide, it’s in enhance what beauty you already have within. I’m so proud of my determination, no matter what I’ve gone through in life you would never know truly because of, how and who I am. It has not been easy at all, but I know that there’s a bigger picture and God wants me to fulfill my purpose which is to help others. I’ve learned that emotions are temporary and just because you may be down one day or not feeling the best about a situation that doesn’t mean that you always be in that predicament hard times don’t last forever this too shall pass. I would love for the world to know this is only the beginning and I have so much more to cover. I pray to inspire many more women as well as get the opportunity to meet and work with likeminded women

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m old school at heart so we’d automatically hit up the Varsity for lunch! A few luxury places we’d visit would be the Waldorf Astoria Spa me day, horseback riding, Overstory rooftop in Duluth for drinks or any of the nicest lounges Downtown or Buckhead for a few more drinks and and we can stop at Allure nail salon for a final treat

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There isn’t one specific person I can say without mentioning my entire tribe. My mom has raised me as a single mother it wasn’t easy but her wisdom and wherewithal got me this far. My grandmother is my whole heart and she is where I get my grace and loving spirit. One of my closest friends Kyla, has always been my voice of reason to constantly keep myself at the forefront of my mind and keep my self value and standards high. Another close friend who I also love dearly is Ashley, a savvy entrepreneur herself who has been influential in helping me remember that if I show up for myself I will be able to conquer all of my fears and dreams and look good while doing it!
