We had the good fortune of connecting with Hari Prasath Sundaresan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hari Prasath, is there something you believe many others might not?
One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is the notion that “perfection is the enemy of progress.”

While this idea encourages people to move forward without getting bogged down by every minor detail, I believe that striving for perfection, especially in the VFX industry, is crucial. Which contributes more towards our success

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Nxgen Media is a bootstrapped company born out of sheer determination and dreams. When we started this journey, apart from our families, there wasn’t a single person who encouraged us to take the leap and start our own company. But we believed in our vision.

From a young age, I’ve been passionate about storytelling, with most of my stories requiring VFX—a field that felt unattainable to me during my childhood. Despite this, I frequently shared my ideas with Arun Raj, who shared my passion for big dreams. Arun was determined to create a secure environment for his core team of 15 members, and together, we began to think about how we could turn our dreams into reality.

Coming from a family where my father was a retired policeman, we didn’t have the financial resources or facilities to start a company easily. But when you’re driven by a need, you find a way to make it happen. We sought out bank loans, but they proved to be of little help. Finally, with the limited money we had and some borrowed from our family, we took the plunge and initiated Nxgen Media.

Nxgen Media is a VFX company dedicated to delivering high-quality visual effects for a variety of platforms, including theatrical productions and streaming giants like Apple TV+, Amazon, and Netflix.

At Nxgen VFX, we set a singular supreme standard of excellence for all our projects. which means – no compromises, no shortcuts. Every frame reflects our dedication to quality. This unique aspect of execution sets us apart in the industry.

Business has never been easy. We faced significant challenges, including receiving death threats from a production company. No kidding! Additionally, we had to compete with big studios for projects, including a memorable instance when we had just one night to compete with another studio and successfully secured the project.

One of the most significant lessons we’ve learned along the way is the importance of valuing our team—our workers are truly our kings. Additionally, having a solid production pipeline is crucial to prevent unnecessary delays and maintain the quality of our output. Our tech support team works around the clock to cater to various time zones, ensuring smooth operations and timely deliveries.

Our story is one of perseverance, and we strive to bring the highest level of artistry and technical excellence to every project we work on. Starting with 20 members in 2019 in India and now expanding to the USA, when we look back, we see a journey defined by our determination and the challenges we’ve overcome to reach where we are today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1: Arrival and Fun
Morning: Pick up from the airport, brunch at The Flying Biscuit Café.
Afternoon: Bowlero for bowling and arcade games. Create Instagram reels.
Evening: Visit Illuminarium for an immersive VR experience.
Dinner: Enjoy dinner at The Optimist.

Day 2: Tech and Thrills
Morning: Stroll through Piedmont Park.
Mid-morning: Tour our studio, Shoot on a green matte, create digital doubles, and animate them in real-time.
Lunch: Try Indian cuisine at Tadka Restaurant.
Evening: Indoor trampoline park Sky Zone.
Dinner: Enjoy Thai cuisine at Nan Thai.

Day 3: Cultural and Culinary Exploration
Morning: Tour Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park.
Lunch: Malaysian cuisine at Top Spice ATL.
Afternoon: Explore the World of Coca-Cola.
Evening: Shop and create Instagram reels at Ponce City Market.
Dinner: Mexican cuisine at El Napolita.

Day 4: Outdoor Adventure
Afternoon: Rafting adventure.
Night: Review rafting adventure with VR goggles.

Day 5: Meditation and Relaxation
Morning: Drive to Tennessee, visit Isha Institute of Inner Sciences.
Lunch: Healthy meals at the institute.
Afternoon: Meditation session.
Evening: Return to Atlanta, dinner at Wei – Sichuan Cuisine.

Absolutely! I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my incredible team at Nxgen Media. I want to give a special shoutout to Arun Raj, our Co-founder & VFX Supervisor. His strategic foresight, especially during the challenging times of COVID-19, was crucial in keeping our business thriving.

I also want to express my deepest gratitude to my wife, parents, siblings, and friends, who have been my rock, offering unwavering emotional and mental support during challenging situations.

Joining the VES (Visual Effects Society) was a boon, providing access to great minds who are always ready to teach me.

Lessons from YouTube channels like @thinkschool, @Firstpost, and @BeerBiceps have been invaluable.

Finally, I want to bow down to Sadhguru, my Guru, who is a mystic and yogi. His teachings and yoga practices have helped me stay grounded and have influenced many of my decisions.

This combination of team effort, mentorship, and continuous learning has been the backbone of our journey at Nxgen Media.
