We had the good fortune of connecting with Gisellia Mouele Makita and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gisellia, what do you want your legacy to be?
With God, anything is possible, and that is the legacy I want to leave behind. I want to be an example for others so they can see that God exists. As a vessel of God I will assist families and generations in breaking the cycles of poverty. I have a huge amount of compassion for people, so seeing them struggle brings tears to my eyes. Since that is my background, I completely understand it. We do not, in my opinion, have to accept our roots or upbringing. Impellingo will be a legacy and will change students lives. Students will learn from me that they are capable of achieving the unthinkable. I am fully aware that some students only option is to attend college is their only choice. I can relate because that was my only choice as well. After being successful in in accumulating over $100k in scholarships/grants. I started my business. I don’t want these students to attend college and rack up debt; I want them to gain knowledge that will transform their entire family’s circumstances. knowledge that will end the cycles of financial poverty. I want them to gain knowledge that will lead to prosperity and benefits for future generations. They will need to return the favor once they have it. They must give something back to the community, whether it is money, their time, or their knowledge. Our blessings extend far beyond us. As I pour into one person, millions more will be impacted. I want to see families overcome poverty so that they can then assist other families in doing the same. I want people to remember that my legacy was to always give to others through knowledge, time, and money according to God’s will.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In January 2022, I started a business called IMPELLINGO. The word “IMPEL” means to urge someone to do something and “LINGO” is the use of our words. We want to urge students to take advantage of scholarships. We believe that through inspiring, motivating, persuading, encouraging, and showing love to students they can learn about scholarships and secure a debt-free degree. There is power in our words as it can push others to accomplish the impossibilities. We desire to pour what we know about Scholarships unto students to help them go to college for free.
Impellingo is a scholarship e-commerce business. We aim to elevate the college graduation rate by decreasing the dropout rate. We want to see students graduate debt-free. We specialize in helping students get access to higher education for free. The thing that sets us apart is that our founder has already accomplished what we teach. Brand wise we are most proud of the fact that our business is based on giving back to the community.
Many students do not finish college due to financial reasons. As a refugee myself, I have seen immigrants not go to college because they lack access to funding.
Being an entrepreneur and able to assist others is certainly a blessing. In all honesty, the journey has not been easy. Although Impellingo has been operational for seven months, I also attend college full-time. Being a full-time college student, working a part-time job, and running my own business caused me to slack off in the third month. I was distracted by school for about two months, which caused me to question whether this was really the right path for me. I started to lose motivation and felt exhausted. I’ve been attending college full-time since 2019—that is, for four years now.
Discipline, not motivation, is needed to attend school the entire year without a break. Since I was exhausted, burnout, and unmotivated I really wanted to give up. One of my students who joined the private scholarship group chat revealed that he had earned a $1,000 scholarship the same week I was contemplating it. After that day, I just felt that I had to keep going and that this company would positively impact future generations’ lives.
Impellingo’s goal is to teach students how to find, apply for, and win scholarships. We do this by providing resources and tools that will help them get there. We created a private scholarships group chat that helps beginners start on their scholarship journey. Students can also book a 1 on 1 with us. We offer a personalized scholarships list, we revise scholarships essays and college entrance essays and are here to answer all of their questions. We have more and better resources that we are working on and cannot wait to launch them. We will also like to network and travel around the world to speak to students about these scholarships! One of our biggest goals is to provide funding to students for higher education. We want to provide Scholarships to students in the United States and students in third-world countries such as Congo Brazzaville, India, Somalia, etc! Here at Impellingo, we believe that every student should have access to higher education no matter what their ethnicity, race, religion, or sex is. We are always looking for network opportunities such as speaking events, so feel free to reach out to us. If you will like to support feel free to click on our business link. By supporting you are helping us turn our vision into reality
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would sincerely like to thank my aunt for raising me. She made the value of education clear to me. Her tireless efforts inspired me to be disciplined and determined after watching her. My youth leader Brilliant Williams, whom I genuinely love and cherish, deserves a special mention. She is someone I admire in so many ways. She has a good heart and a great love for God. She is a fantastic leader and has always been there for me when I needed her. I would want to recognize my team members, the individuals who work for Impellingo. I appreciate everything you do and the effort you have been putting in. As you can see, there are too many to mention by name, but altogether, I want to express how appreciative and thankful I am to all of you.
