We had the good fortune of connecting with Get Taped! and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Get, what do you attribute your success to?
There is a lot of competition in our industry of audition taping services, but our continued success is in our mission statement. We seek to dispel fear in actors, and that motivation alone creates a posture of safety, encouragement, and a lack of judgment that resonates with our clients. As full-time actors ourselves, we know what an actor needs to do their best work, and we work tirelessly to provide that for them.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
“Be so good they can’t ignore you.” Steve Martin famously said that, and it has been an underlying motivation for how we have grown our personal acting careers as well as our business, Get Taped. We both started in the Atlanta market as actors before the big production boom, and we spent those early years investing 1000s of hours (and dollars) into training, training, and more training. And while that took a lot of persistence, side gigs, and credit card debt, it positioned us to make lasting impressions on decision makers (agents, casting directors, producers, etc), which has paid off tremendously. By continuing to show up and do exceptional work – along with being professional and continuing our training – we have cultivated relationships with so many influential people in this market. That has created sustainable acting careers as well as a business that is considered one of the best taping services in Atlanta.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love Atlanta, and proudly call it home. We’re big fans of Six Flags when we want a little adventure. For a more relaxed outing, we love to walk the BeltLine or ride bikes on the Silver Comet Trail. For a super relaxing day, we love to grab some friends and some tubes and “Shoot the Hooch” for a few hours, then hit up a brewery like Monday Night Garage or Fire Maker brewery. And if we’ve been good about our diet all week, nothing tastes better than Sublime Doughnuts.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In addition to audition tapings, we are licensed facilitators of the Sam Christensen Image Process. Sam was a mentor of ours, and he tragically passed away in 2019. We are doing our best to continue his legacy in partnership with Sam Christensen Studios, and his influence on us is present in everything we do. Whether taping an audition, doing a career consultation, teaching classes or workshops, we are perpetually trying to remove fear and doubt from actors, and empower them to take more ownership of their craft and their career. That was Sam’s mission, and we have adopted it for ourselves and our business as a whole.
