We had the good fortune of connecting with Gavin Gray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gavin, what do you attribute your success to?
To me, success is doing what you love and helping others while doing it! It is all about bringing out the best in people consistently. When you lift those around you while staying true to yourself, that’s real success in my eyes.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I am most proud of is that, no matter what life throws at me, I continue to do exactly what I’m set out to do, which is creating & helping people become what they want to be in life. Whether someone wants to be a singer, a rapper, or just speak their truth over a video, I want to be the one who helps them bring that vision to life. That’s my passion. I turn people’s ideas, hopes, and dreams into something real. That’s pretty much why I do this. Getting to where I am today took a lot of hard work … and a lot of failures. But quitting? Never an option. Was it easy? Not even close. I think the hardest part is showing up, just like going to the gym. It’s all about getting there. Waking up early, getting out the door, making that commitment again, and again. But once I’m in it, the work becomes easy. It takes dedication, and that’s why I love it so much. When challenges come up, I stay locked in. For the most part, I’m a tunnel vision type of person. I also lean on my team when I need support in situations I may not be familiar with. And of course, my family keeps me grounded and reminds me why I keep on going. Some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned? No one owes you anything. If you want something, you have to go out and get it. Period
At the end of the day, I know that: I love God and God loves me. Favor ain’t always fair, but it sure feels good when it’s yours!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend came to visit me in Atlanta, I’d make sure they had a full experience. For the Morning, we’d start the day at Flavor Rich. Food is fire. Then for the Mid-Day Vibes, we’d catch a movie at Phipps Plaza. I love watching movies. If I’ve got my kids with me, we’d hit Piedmont Park instead. In the evening, we would wind down at Painted Pins, it’s the pot. It’s not just a bowling alley, it’s got a basketball court too. Perfect way to wrap up the day. Atlanta’s got lots of good spots, but for me, it’s all about the vibes and good people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve got to give a major shoutout to FellyTheVoice. One of my best friends and biggest inspirations. It’s rare and powerful to have someone who’s both a peer and a role model at the same time. His dedication is unreal, and it shows in everything he does. When I listen to his work, it’s like I can almost see his day-to-day life through it. That kind of discipline motivates me daily.
