We had the good fortune of connecting with Dyamond Trapp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dyamond, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
The ultimate end goal for me is making sure I do everything I told myself I would do. I aspire to take my career to the next level by becoming an international hairstylist for a dope company one day. Having fun and being versatile is what I desire, I never want to feel like I chose the wrong passion. Hair is literally my life and I just want to keep spreading all my gifts in every form it’s needed. I’m on the road to completing every mission God has in store for me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Growing up my aunt that raised me was a licensed cosmetologist, so hair was definitely a priority in the house. I remember at 12 yrs old I was the family’s hair stylist, not even knowing that it was going to be my career one day. I started to take it more serious when I started college, I was doing friends hair as a side hustle thru school. Once clientele started to increase, I know that I needed the right credentials to take me to the next level. My journey wasn’t easy, I had finally found the cosmetology school that I wanted to attend but experienced a wrist injury on my dominant side the same week school started. I just knew my hair dreams were over, but God had other plans. It took me about 3 months to recover and once I did I had the best experience of my life. I had the opportunity to get information from a Celebrity stylist named as “Arrogant Tae”. We both graduated from the same high school so I know he could lead me in the right direction since we were in the same area. He advised that I found a Paul Mitchell School, and apply ASAP! 3 months later I applied and got excepted, my life was changing so much. I made such a huge impact on my school that they asked me to come back after I graduated and start the teaching program so I could be able to help other students succeed In the beauty industry. Covid19 hit so everything went virtual. My dream was to always be a traveling hair stylist so during the pandemic I chose to take a huge risk and start traveling to Las Vegas to gain more cliente. Fast forward 3 years later and I’m finally a Las Vegas resident who travels back and forth from my home town to cater to my beautiful clients. I couldn’t be more proud of myself for actually sacrificing and taking the biggest risk just to see if I’ll succeed! I haven’t failed and I don’t plan too. I’ve learned that if you stay true to your dreams and stay consistent everything will fall in place. I’m still chasing for bigger and better and I won’t stop until I do!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! First we would hit the strip which is one of our top tourist attractions, just to get the feel of things, they’re so much to do on the strip that it’ll probably take the whole week to complete. I personally love soul food so we would probably be on the hunt for that, they have a lot of food choices such as, Harolds, Big Jerk and 6Wings. For our night life we would probably check out downtown freemont and some local hookah lounges. We love to have fun so we’ll make sure we ride some ATVs in the desert, and of course we can’t live without a shopping experience as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my lovely assistant and best friends, they’ve been my best friends for over 10 years and they help me in so many ways. They’re always there for me no matter the situation. Having them to help with my business and mentorship has been such a blessing. I wish everyone could experience them in their life. Thank you Jasmine, Lexus & Keyanna
