We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Nicole Thaxton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Nicole, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Our success results from the individualized care we show each and every client at our office. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits all approach to mental healthcare and wellness. Instead, we take into account each client’s lifestyle, history, environment, and relationships. Each treatment plan is unique. A second factor behind our success is our focus on transparency and holistic health in the services we offer. We recognize the need for openness between client and provider to create trust in the therapeutic relationship. Our focus is wellness over illness in all areas of life, not just mental health.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The purpose of Atlanta Wellness Collective is to create a safe space for healing, growth, and transformation. We accomplish this by providing excellent, research supported counseling, therapy, coaching, and wellness services for individuals, couples, families, and organizations. We’re a family-owned company, and we pride ourselves in our commitment to approachable, holistic healthcare services for our clients. My husband and co-founder, RJ, and I are Licensed Professional Counselors and have worked in private practice since 2016. In 2020, we opened our doors at ATLWELL Collective and have since brought on 8 incredibly talented licensed providers and team members. What sets us apart is our focus on holistic mental healthcare. We take a “full person” approach, and offer trauma informed massage therapy and chiropractic services in addition to mental health counseling and therapy. We value each and every client who visits our office or who works with us online through tele-health. Ultimately, we want our clients to know that their unique story and journey matters.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
RJ and I are HUGE foodies. We love cooking and eating at great restaurants. You can often find us at The Battery, Marietta Square, downtown Roswell, or in Alpharetta at the Avalon. We are OTP people, for sure! This is the most difficult part of the pandemic for us…not getting to travel, go to concerts, or spend time around the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my husband and co-founder, RJ Thaxton. RJ and I met during our master’s program in 2015 as counselors in training. We always had the vision for Atlanta Wellness Collective together, and having a like-minded and driven partner like RJ is a huge blessing. We grow and lead our team together, and I can’t thank him enough for being the most supportive husband and partner.
