We had the good fortune of connecting with DMariee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DMariee, what inspires you?
Im truly inspired by the “Underdogs”. People that always has doors shut in there faces. These type of people people like me they really know how to take a hit and get right back up. It may seem funny but to be intrigued but the struggle and storms that we all as people face its the coming out stories that always give another personal inspiration to push through with GOD.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Deanna M. Tyree (DMariee) – Bio
Rooted in resilience, passion, and divine purpose, Deanna M. Tyree, known to many as DMariee, is a multifaceted creative force based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A model, singer, hair artist, and coach, she walks boldly in her calling to uplift and inspire women through every gift she carries.

Hair Artist & Entrepreneur
Founder of DMariee Touch of Class Hair Studio, DMariee has spent the past three years transforming crowns and spirits alike. Specializing in braids, natural hair, silk presses, and quick weaves, her hands are anointed not only for styling but for healing. What began as a personal passion — sparked by the creative ways she styled her own hair — turned into a calling when she became a mother.

“It hit home for me — this had to be more than just a hobby. It’s a blessing to help women look and feel good, because you never know how your touch can change someone’s day.”

Model & Mentor
With over 17 years in the modeling industry, DMariee has walked some of North Carolina’s most celebrated runways. From the Black Theater Festival to Winston Salem Fashion Week, High Point Fashion Week, The Ultimate Junki Show, and countless others — her presence is undeniable.

Now serving as Model Coordinator for Winston Salem Fashion Week, DMariee uses her platform to teach and elevate the next generation. Through 1:1 coaching sessions and group mentoring, she pours wisdom, confidence, and poise into aspiring models who are learning to own their light.

“I’ve walked enough runways to know it’s not just about fashion — it’s about presence, purpose, and showing up fully in who you are.”

Singer & Soulful Storyteller
A Neo-Soul and Inspirational artist, DMariee’s voice carries the ache of pain, the joy of healing, and the beauty of truth. A gifted songwriter, she writes from the heart — drawing inspiration from heartbreak, motherhood, stillness, and the rawness of life.

Her original music is available on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud, and she’s graced stages including the Black Theater Festival, A One-Night-Only Showcase, and live sets in intimate bar venues with a full band.

“Sometimes just watching the world outside is enough to create a song. Music is how I pray out loud.”

A Spiritual Mission
Through every braid, every lyric, every runway, and every coaching call — DMariee lives by one truth:

“No matter what your dark days bring, you were created to shine.”

Her life is a testimony that you don’t need permission to follow your passion — and your purpose will always make room for your voice, your vision, and your victory.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1 – Welcome & Wind Down
We’d start with a relaxed day to settle in. I’d take them to Downtown Winston to walk through Bailey Park, grab a light lunch at Cugino Forno for some firewood pizza, and enjoy the artsy vibes. That evening, we’d have dinner at Sweet Potatoes, one of my favorites — soul food with love on every plate. We’d end the night chilling with some live jazz or poetry at Monstercade or Camel City BBQ, depending on the vibe.

Day 2 – Beauty & Self-Care
We’d start the morning with some hair pampering at my spot — DMariee Touch of Class Hair Studio. Because if you’re in my city, your crown has to be right! After that, we’d do a little boutique shopping at Wink Salon & Boutique or Design Archives, and maybe grab smoothies at Village Juice Co.
That night, we’d check out Lyndhurst Mansion or catch a good movie at a/perture Cinema for something artistic and local.

Day 3 – Culture & Creativity
I’d take them to Old Salem, where we can walk the cobblestone streets, learn some deep Black history, and stop by the St. Philips Heritage Center. Then we’d head over to the Delta Arts Center or SECCA (Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art) for something inspiring. Dinner would be at 6th and Vine — wine, good food, and good vibes.

Day 4 – Nature & Nourishment
We’d spend this day out in nature — maybe a hike at Pilot Mountain or just a peaceful walk through Reynolda Gardens. After that kind of clarity, we’d have brunch at Young Cardinal or Midtown Cafe. That night, we’d grab drinks and catch some local live music at Joyner’s Bar or The Ramkat.

Day 5 – Queen Vibes Only
This would be a glam day — makeup, photoshoot (yes, I’d set that up because every queen deserves it), maybe even visit the Winston Salem Fashion Week Studio space. I’d have them model and step into their power. Dinner would be upscale — Spring House Restaurant or Ryan’s Steakhouse for that “special occasion” energy.

Day 6 – Community & Connection
We’d volunteer at a local women’s shelter or community kitchen — because giving back is important to me. Then we’d head to Black Luxe Expo or another pop-up local market if it’s the right weekend — support some Black-owned businesses. Dinner would be comfort food — maybe Slappy’s Chicken or Zesto Burgers.

Day 7 – Reflection & Worship
Sunday would be our spiritual day. We’d start with church service at Greater Faith Ministries or a sunrise meditation at Salem Lake, somewhere we can breathe deep and thank God for the journey. Brunch afterward at Simply Sonyas and then just vibe out, pack, and prepare to send them off with a full heart.

Winston-Salem is a place of culture, community, and quiet beauty — and when you’re with the right people, it’s magic. Whether you’re eating good, dancing free, or sitting still under the sun, there’s something here for every part of you.
