We had the good fortune of connecting with Destin Avery and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Destin, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
One you favorite quotes that I recite to myself daily is “ You are greater than you may see, Smarter than what you may think, Stronger than you may seem, You will go further than you may have ever DREAMED!” This quote came to me in one of my dreams. The dream was show my all the places I could and would go in life. This quote became a daily affirmation because I had seen all the places I shall go , with God’s grace and mercy. This quote really means a lot to me once I fully understand the dream and why the quote kept coming to me. If you break the quote down into 4 parts you will see that if you remind your self how great you can be, you will manifest so many opportunities into your life. I love this quote because it reminds you to stay on the right path and follow your heart. Also it helps me remember that everyday you have to bring your A game or game ! Be on point everyday and everywhere you go because you never know who you may meet.
What should our readers know about your business?
BEYOND TRAP CLOTHING is a independent lifestyle brand based out of Monroe,Georgia. The idea arose in 2020. BTC seeks to reinvent the meaning of the word TRAP, which is historically associated with drugs, violence and the high rate of incarceration. Based off of those facts, the mission of Beyond Trap Clothing is to completely redefine the term to the meaning of “Taking Risk and Providing.” Our goal as a brand is to raise awareness surrounding issues of drugs, racism, and the cycle of people struggling to provide . The brand is a combination of the struggle, hustle, positive and negative association with Trap culture and music.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was visiting me from out of town I would definitely have an itinerary set for the time that she will be here! ( Many of the places I may list we can’t visit.)
Sunday: We would start our day @ 9AM , we would eat a homemade breakfast preferably homemade biscuits , sausage patties , cheese & eggs , fruits , and orange juice! Then we would get dressed and make our way to First African Baptist Church located in my hometown of Monroe Georgia. We would receive an amazing service by Rev.Edwin Beckles and the FAB Family. We would leave church and head to my great grandparents house to enjoy the rest of our evening with family and friends, laughter and GREAT soul food.
Monday: We would enjoy another homemade breakfast. Pancakes, yogurt , and fruits will complete our first meal of the day. Then we would make our way towards Atlanta, GA for a day of fun. We will have lunch at the SluttyVegan before we have a few hours of shopping at Lenox Mall. They day will be completed with a dinner at The Sugar Factory and couple of laughs on the way back to Monroe.
Tuesday: Brunch on Tuesday at Nana’s Chicken and Waffles sound amazing. We would enjoy at day of great food and laughter. After brunch, we may travel to Commerce, GA to do a lot of shopping at the outlet shopping center. Once we complete our shopping, we will enjoy dinner at the Hook and Reel located in Athens, GA.

Once we left the beach we had lunch at Chick-fil-a then we would head down to River Street for a few historical lessons. We will complete our trip with the last stop before we hit the highway would be Bobo Seafood Market. You can find the best seafood here, it’s so fresh. I would recommend this place to everyone.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my village, the people that has pushed me throughout the years. There are too many names of people they I could state but I truly appreciate my friend and family. They say it takes a village to raise a child and I am a product of what my village has rounded me to be. Thank You All!!!
I would mainly like to dedicate my shoutout to my great grandparents , my Nana & Pop, Edna L. Booker-Robinson and Willie G. Robinson. If you knew my great grandparents you would define them as loving, caring, humble , and many other things. As a whole they taught me many things, and helped in rounding me into who I am today. I learned many life lessons with my Nana and Pop such as learning how to write checks, cook, clean, change oil, cut grass, navigation, how to dance like back in the day, but most of all the main lesson I learn was how to be respectful and how not to get cheated out of your money! All the life lesson I have learned and obtained from the both of them all evolved around Love, Laughter, Fun , and Respect . Though my great grandfather could not read or write, you could not dare cheat the man out of any money! That had to be one of the greatest lessons I have learned over 15 years because due to my age there will be plenty of people that will want to business with me and try to cheat me of my money.
Although, they have proceeded me in death and has became my 2 guardian angels. The charisma that they had will continue to guide me through the tough times and through wealth. I will always make it my honor to make them proud everyday.
The greatest shoutout goes out to my great grandparents, Edna L Booker-Robinson & Willie G. Robinson. Thank you for always pushing to me to be greater than I may see. Love you both dearly and may I continue to make you both proud!
