Meet Delatria Sam | #1 Bestseller Book Author of “Echoes of the Pandemic, A Story of Heartache, Loss, and Resilience. Writer, Poet, Health & Medicine Writer, Cancer Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Delatria Sam and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Delatria, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
As I look back on the journey of my life, I’m reminded that the stories we tell are a reflection of who we are. Though I grew up in New Orleans, I’ve found a new sense of community, comfort, and inspiration here in Atlanta. When self-doubt kicks in and I’m struggling to find the right words to say, I think about why I started writing my story in the first place. What motivated me? What was the inspiration behind my story? I ask myself: is this story still worth sharing? If the answer is yes, I find the strength and courage to keep going. At times, I’d take a break, sobbing, and then return to it later with fresh eyes. Talking with a fellow author, writer, and mentor who is also a friend in New Orleans has been a blessing – she’s offered valuable insight and positive words of encouragement, helping me understand the writing journey can be both a challenge and a healing experience. I wrote through my pain and found purpose from heartache to healing, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my story with the Atlanta community that has welcomed me with open hearts. I hope that my story will inspire others to find their own path to healing and purpose, and to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in our city.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am passionate about sharing my story and inspiring others through my work in healthcare and research. As a health and medicine writer, clinical research professional, and cancer writer, I’ve had the privilege of working in various capacities, including my previous role in Pediatric Cancer. What sets me apart is my unique blend of experiences and perspectives that I’ve gained through my work in the healthcare industry.
I am most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to use my skills and expertise to make a positive impact on others. Recently, I had the honor of being part of a New Anthology book that was published in June, which features my poetry. This experience has been a dream come true, and I’m excited to share my poetry with others.
Getting to where I am today professionally hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced challenges and obstacles along the way, but I’ve learned to overcome them by being resilient, seeking support from my family at home and trusting the process.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the importance of perseverance and staying true to my passion. I’ve also learned that every experience, whether positive or negative, is an opportunity for growth and learning.
What I want the world to know about me is that I am dedicated to using my platform to inspire, educate, and uplift others. My story is one of hope, resilience, and transformation, and I hope that it inspires others to find their own path and share their own stories.

Her own writing journey has been a light of hope for me, and I am so grateful to have her in my life. I’d also like to give a shoutout to the city of Atlanta, which has welcomed me with open arms and provided a vibrant community of artists and writers who inspire me every day.
