We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Maslan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, how do you think about risk?
I think risk is a necessary part of growth — both personally and professionally. Risk-taking is about trusting yourself enough to step outside your comfort zone, even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.

Starting my own business was definitely a risk. I was stepping away from the security of staying behind the scenes and putting myself and my work out into the world. But I also knew that if I didn’t take the leap, I would always wonder ‘what if?’
I believe that the biggest amount of personal growth almost always comes from getting uncomfortable and taking risks. Every meaningful step forward in my life has started with the decision to step outside of my comfort zone. Building my business has pushed me to grow in ways I never could have imagined.

Now, seeing real growth in my business, it’s clear that the risk (and all the moments of discomfort along the way) have absolutely been worth it. I’m excited to continue to challenge myself, embrace the uncomfortable, and continue to grow my business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Danielle Maslan Interiors is an interior design studio based in Dunwoody, Georgia and the surrounding Metro Atlanta area, specializing in timeless, highly personalized spaces. I offer a full range of interior design services, including custom window treatments, to create refined homes with a focus on natural textures, thoughtful details, and a balance of classic and current elements.

What sets my business apart is the combination of tailored, beautiful design with a personal and streamlined client experience. As a mom of three young sons, I also bring a deep understanding of how to design spaces that are not just beautiful, but truly functional and durable for busy families.

Building my business has been an incredibly rewarding journey, though not without challenges. I’ve learned how to do everything from scratch — from forming an LLC to setting up QuickBooks to learning how to use social media to grow my brand — all while staying focused on delivering the best possible designs and client experience.

At the end of the day, my goal is for my clients to absolutely love coming home!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d want to give them a real taste of the beautiful, relaxed lifestyle we enjoy here in Dunwoody — with a few fun outings around Atlanta mixed in!

We’d start our mornings with coffee from Crema relaxing on our front porch or in our big backyard — it’s easy catch up when the kids have space to run around!

One day would be spent exploring Historic Roswell, taking a scenic hike along the Chattahoochee River trails, followed by an outdoor lunch at one of the fun restaurants on Canton Street.

One evening, we’d head to a Braves game at Truist Park and grab dinner or hang out at The Battery afterward.

Locally, I’d also take them to Dunwoody Nature Center for a short hike and to Culinary Dropout at Ashford Lane for their killer Asian salad.

Of course, we’d fit in some downtime too — backyard grilling, relaxed family dinners, and evenings spent on the porch. Atlanta and the surrounding areas have this great balance of energy and calm, and I’d want my best friend to experience the best parts of both.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I have to dedicate my shoutout to my husband. He has been my biggest supporter from the very beginning, encouraging me through every stage of building my business. He’s the one who suggested I start an interior design business in the first place!
When I’m having a day where I’m doubting myself or feeling overwhelmed, he’s the one who reminds me to keep moving forward. I wouldn’t be where I am today without his support, encouragement, and constant reminders to trust myself and the process.
