We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Jasmin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose an artistic/creative career because I have so much personality, I’ve always been called a drama queen and goofy growing up. It wasn’t until college that I actually started to pursue my career. When I started working 9-5 jobs, even my customers would tell me that I have too much personality to be boxed into a building. So I took a risk and went after what I loved; performing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come, everything I’ve learned, my personal growth, and where I’m going. The beginning of my career was a blessing because I had a few people really guide me and teach me the ropes as far as helping me get booked for work, teaching me how to do my resume, and connecting me with acting coaches. I’ve continued to use what I learned, and continue learning to stay ahead of the curve. It has not been easy getting where I am. I’ve questioned if I should give up many times, but that persistent part of me just refuses to give up no matter how long it takes. One life lesson I’ve learned is to listen twice as much as I speak. That rolls over to every aspect of your life. You never know who your speaking to, or what role they will play in your failure or success. Choose your words wisely and think before you speak. I want the world to know that O am an over comer, I have an indomitable spirit, and I won’t stop until I claim every blessing Energy Source has in store for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly I don’t go out much. I’m a homebody unless I have a booking or a specific event. When my family or friends visit, I let them tell me what types of things they want to do, then I reach out to my connects and figure it out from there. I’m more of an outdoor adventure type of person, so the typical clubs and what not doesn’t excite me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to shoutout my girl Zadie Franklin AKA Rozaee on Instagram! She moves silently but is a force to be reckoned with. Not only is she a phenomenal dancer and choreographer, but she goes above and beyond to bring fitness, health and wellness to her home community. Did I mention she’s the the founder of The Urban Aura Shop? She offers affordable fashion, super cute and comfy workout clothes, and there’s amazing opportunities for dance classes, educational opportunities and so much more!
