We had the good fortune of connecting with Chiquita, Destini, and Marcus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chiquita, Destini, and Marcus, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Our thought process behind Teen Attack was to create a clothing apparel brand for the Youth to dress in style while their attacking their goals in life to become who they are destined to be. The brand name “Teen Attack” was birth back in 2018 when me and my children were sitting having dinner discussing ways to shine a more positive light into the youth community, because we felt as a family the youth doesn’t get recognized and was overlooked. We wanted to change that by creating a clothing brand as well as getting more involved in the community by doing of pop ups, and events.
We are passionate when it comes to helping others, and being the voice for the youth today. When wearing our brand, we want them to feel empowered and moved to strive towards greatness and success. We have variety of products to fit the youth needs throughout their school term and even throughout college. We want to create a positive image to the world that the Youth is our future Chefs, Doctors, Nurses, Lawyers, and etc. We strive to keep them motivated and driven to reach their goals daily while building a community to embrace the Youth. We are focused on our content to be inspiring and uplifting when the Youth is sporting our brand.
Since coming up with the brand name “Teen Attack” to engaging with the Youth personally has inspired us to be more than just a clothing brand. We are working on creating Teen Attack Youth Centers to educate and create health and wealth to them early on in life. We figured, Why should they have to wait until they graduated high school to decided or be undecided what they would like to venture out in life to be when they can be taught early and make that choice now.
Our goal in the next couple of months is to change the way the community sees the Youth and value them for who they really are. They are important and loved regardless of their situation or circumstances. By focusing on them more with starting our Youth center we hope that more people in the community will join us to make this happen where it is needed.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
TEEN ATTACK was created back in 2018 and came to life in production in 2019 to provide a family clothing brand that offers products and services to the youth and young adults worldwide while their attacking their dreams. It was not a easy road getting here but it was well worth it. We did our own advertising, marketing, photo shoot and even our own website with no guidance, but we had each other. Staring this business from the ground up has made us the most proudest and helped us appreciate what we are doing in the most humblest way.
What set us aside from other is our brand name we choose stands out for itself and our motive behind it reflects our brand alone. The lessons we learned along the way is to love on each other no matter what and always remember communication and expressing how we feel as a family is key to one another. We are most proud to be working providing youth centers for the youth to give them a second home to explore and tap into their callings to walk in their purpose in life now instead of later. We want the world to know that we are here to change and be the voice for the youth in the most positive way possible, and it starts with us moving forward with change.
We believe that every individual is their own person and with a little guidance we can help push them to their full potential to conquer their dreams. We want teenagers to feel wanted and needed in each and every community across the world while wearing our brand. We feel like the youth is overlooked and we want to help change that! We believe in integrity, dignity, and community involvement while the youth sports and represent our clothing brand “TEEN ATTACK”.
The mission of TEEN ATTACK is to inspire each boy and girl and give them the ability to learn and know who they are. Each teen has a purpose to fulfill here on earth and we want to be that guidance and hold their hand every step of the way towards success. We want to provide mentor-ship, leadership, encouragement, sister and brotherhood bonds that will last a lifetime. This movement is here to impact the youth and bring awareness in areas of improvement to each boy and girl to reach their full potential in life.
Our vision is for the community to “Come Grow With Us While The Youth Is Attacking Their Dreams In Style”. This movement is beyond a family clothing brand. We want to close the gaps of stereotypes and categorize the youth today. We believe in every teen to simply be themselves and to tap into their own individual talents they have to better help them achieve their dreams in life throughout their teenage years.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, me and my children love to eat so we love taking our family and friends out to Locos Grill & Pub in Albany or the Thomasville Ga. location. That’s one of our favorite spots to eat and kick back and plus the food is always great!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We want to dedicate our shout out to our Granny Rose Battle McCann whom we lost in 2010 to Lung Cancer. She was the rock to our family that held it all together and loved on us no matter what trials and up comings we faced in life. Her love for us never changed and she was a inspiration to me and others towards becoming a strong independent woman. Me becoming a teenage mom in high school was difficult and challenging and my Granny helped gave me comfort and security throughout my journey of birthing my first child Destini to having my second child Marcus. By being surrounded with love and empowerment she helped me eliminate the invisible boundaries of any negative feedback I received towards being a single mom throughout the years. I (Chiquita) was inspired by watching my Granny hold it all together and the things she taught me to be in my childhood empowered me to become a Full Time Entrepreneur and a risk taker towards starting my own business with my children today.
Also, we want to dedicated our shout out to my Mom, Lashon Shorter and our Aunt, Beanna Ward. For these to ladies stood by our side when we needed them the most in life and we are forever grateful for them. The love and care they have for us is genuine and endless.
