We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Porter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chelsea, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind my business was that I could do what I love and still make money. I had worked in different industries over the years and was quite good at a couple different ones, but I was burnt out especially with call centers. I’ve always been fascinated with beauty so I decided to dig deeper and fell even further in love.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart from others is my dedication and passion. The saying “it’s in me not on me” is exactly how I feel about beauty. It is embedded in me and has been since an early age. I love learning new techniques and about new products and ingredients. The beauty world is forever changing, but with growth comes change. Entrepreneurship is not for the weak. It takes a lot of sacrifice, but it’s rewarding. I learned along the way that it is okay to ask for help and the only competition is within yourself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m not from the ATL area, but I’ve heard people rave about Slutty Vegan so I would love to try that. The Sugar Factory is amazing and so is the Aquarium.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are too many to name who deserve credit along this journey with me because they each play a special and vital part. My mentors are amazing at what they do and they teach me how to be better each day. My support system never lets me give up. Most importantly though I want to thank my tribe because without them none of my businesses would be where they are today.
