We had the good fortune of connecting with Catrice Spain and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Catrice, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
The one-piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is: Traditional education is everything. I have a Bachelor’s Degree, a Master’s Degree, and I have taken courses towards my Doctoral degree. At this point obtaining your degree may cost you more than opening an efficient, profitable business. I have learned a lot over the course of the years and one of the most important things I have learned is in order to learn the game you must get in and play. I do agree that you can go to school to learn how to analyze and work with numbers, but sometimes as an entrepreneur, you have to jump in and learn how to swim.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the proud owner of C. Kellie Essentials, LLC. I service my clients at SKINWORKS Day Spa in Covington, GA and I am also mobile when need be. I specialize in Teeth Whitening and Tooth Gem Services. I am a certified educator with more than 15 years of experience. I am also a certified V-Steam Practitioner. My passion for positivity and self-care allows me to give my clients an amazing personalized experience. I am also a certified Foot Detox Specialist. I am most proud of the fact that my business continues to grow and my clients appreciate each and every service they receive. I believe my clients enjoy their experiences with me because I personalize each experience and make them feel at home. I have a very positive spirit and I know that is what draws people to me. My goal is to spread positive energy and show others how being “Unapologetically You” is the best form of self-care.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Henry County and it continues to grow! If my friends came to town I would take them to K-Pop BBQ and Bar in McDonough, GA. It is decorated with K-Pop musicians on the walls and K-Pop music plays throughout the restaurant. The food is awesome and the drinks are great! We would also visit Yeye’s Botanica in Atlanta. It is a spiritual supply store. I purchase many of my self-care items and crystals from here. It is an amazing place and I can spend hours there. I would also take them to Nouveau Bar and Grill for brunch. It is in downtown Jonesboro. They have some of the best Seafood Grits I have ever had. They also play great music, have Karaoke, and the drinks are top-notch.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to take a moment to acknowledge the support of my best friends. They have sat up with me until the wee hours of the mornings planning and researching. They also always encouraged me to keep going. I must also give credit to my business coach, Karma Fouch, of SKINWORKS Day Spa. She is a total inspiration to me. I started out as one of her clients a couple of years ago and then we became friends. She has encouraged me, coached me, and helped me to navigate the business world. I am forever grateful to her!
