Meet Candice Morgan | Mindset Coach & Speaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Candice Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Candice, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Autonomy exposes our weaknesses.
I never had autonomy over my work schedule until I started in corporate sales.
Autonomy exposed my people pleaser weakness. I was agreeing to meet with anyone who wanted to meet with me.
This had me driving all over town and meeting with a lot of timewasters. I’d get home exhausted and with a whole lot of computer work I still needed to get done. This bled into “family time” at my house and I ended up feeling overwhelmed and guilty.
I learned to establish boundaries
I learned how to say no
I learned schedule blocking
I am thankful for that experience because it really prepared me for the autonomy I have now that I have my own business. Now I have the freedom to take my kids to the park or take a last minute vacation or take a yoga class in the afternoon without having to ask permission. That is HUGE.
Coming from sales, I am wired to use 100% of my work time networking and promoting. But now, I also need to block off time to CREATE what I am selling. Timeblocking continues to be my friend in this regard. I block off an entire day for face to face meetings. I block off an entire day for creating.
I am my brand. My brand is about mental and physical health. I cannot neglect my self-care. I schedule time for self care such as exercise on my calendar just like a meeting is on my calendar. I honor that time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My superpower is conversations. I grew up in a cult that emphasized converting new members. I volunteered 10-20 hours a week my entire life selling religion door to door and in the streets. This unique life experience allowed me 30 years of practice striking up a conversation with total strangers and finding common ground.
Getting out of the cult and leaving my marriage and my community to start brand new also gave me a resilient and confident mindset. I lost everyone when I was excommunicated. What does one do when she realizes not one person loves her unconditionally in the whole world? I learned the hard way the importance of getting to know my authentic self and loving her unconditionally.
I needed to pay rent and feed my kids, so out of necessity I plunged right into the deep end of corporate sales. I soaked up all the experience like a sponge. I learned how to lead and how to run a business. But, I brought my conversation superpower with me. Do you know what I learned? These successful people who seemed like they had it all…they struggle with the same issues of self love and people pleasing that I had struggled with.
Resilient mindset + Conversation superpower = Coach
And an idea is born! Turns out I can actually make money AND use my gifts to serve others at the same time. Now I share my story as a keynote speaker. I get to know my clients on a deep level and educe their goals and dreams. I bring together a community of inspiring woman and we celebrate life together!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would spend a day in the city and a day in the country.
Wake up early and drive to Yonah Mountain and hike to the top. Eat a picnic on the summit.
After the hike, we would visit Yonah Mountain Winery and listen to some live music.
Then we would go to Montaluce Winery and Wolf Mountain Winery. Eating at each of them because we couldn’t choose between them.
The next day, we would spend in Atlanta.
Wake up and I would take them to Pancake Social.
Then we would go shopping at Ponce City Market. We would walk down the Beltline and people watch. We would stop at Ladybird and get a drink and sit outside and watch the people walk by.
After we are hungry again, we would walk over to La Fonda on Ponce and have the most delicious paella.
Then we would go back and change and shower and get all pretty again.
Go to dinner at Little Alley, drinks at Garden Room. Then we would end the night at Johnny’s Hideaway and dance!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Cathryn Marshall and Bronkar Lee have really been there for me as my business coaches! They have opened doors to me and given me action items and accountability. I am so thankful for them.
