We had the good fortune of connecting with Candice Beasley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Candice, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from the south side of Chicago! Chitown…the best skyline, the best variety of food options (bomb, too!) and not to mention a lot of the greats (musicians, athletes, politicians and more) are from the city. As you can see, I’m super proud of my hometown. It’s where my roots are. Where my foundation was built.

My upbringing has definitely shaped who I am today. My parents instilled strong core values that have kept me grounded throughout my life – faith, love, authenticity and integrity. It is the true essence of who I am and what CMBLUXE represents. My values afforded me the opportunity to build a brand that encourages our customers to tap into their true essence through fashion and I couldn’t be more honored. I’m grateful for the journey and the legacy it will pass on.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a television producer. I love being able to create content that sparks conversation in multi-generational households.

It was not an easy start. I took a leap of faith and moved from Chicago to LA to pursue a career in entertainment. At the time, I had no idea what that meant. I just knew I love content and wanted to be in Hollywood. What I didn’t know was that this was part of my journey – to stretch me into this multi-dimensional individual. With $300 to my name, my friend welcomed me into her home rent free while I looked for a job. Two months later, I landed a position at one of the top talent agencies which then led me to the network I grew up watching.

I’ve learned the power of relationships and what it means to nurture them organically and authentically. The importance of collaborating with other creatives that have a different perspectives / upbringings which then help tell a well rounded story vs one sided story.

I want the world to know that I’m forever evolving so when you see my IG, know that I am happy but I’ve had an interesting journey that I’m willing to share with anyone who have similar walks or just need some inspiration. I love God and Trap Music. I love to dance and I love to shop!! For my brand, I want them to experience the vision of CMBLUXE which is creating an environment that encourages our customers to tap into their true essence through fashion. CMBLUXE encompasses fashion, art and authenticity. If our looks help awaken or embodies the mood/vibe you are feeling that moment, we’ve served our purpose.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m still new to the city but I would take them to…

Food
– Slutty Vegan – This would be more of a touristy eatery but the food is great, its black owned and I’m vegan so it’s perfect.
– R. Thomas – Their breakfast and Big Bang tea is on POINT!

Place
– Piedmont Park Saturday morning – Front Row Yogi practices yoga at 10am and its a beautiful start to the day along with connecting with great people.

Drinks
– Rock Steady – cute intimate environment

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the one spirit that has given me reason, Tiny Saint. I have a village of family and friends who are my rocks and have showered me with unconditional love and support. Tiny showed me what it means to keep going, how to love, how life is bigger than just me and the importance of walking in your purpose. I love you!
