We had the good fortune of connecting with Camille Epps and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camille, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is patience. A lot of times, we often find ourselves comparing ourselves to others, wondering why we’re not where they are. You really have to be patient. When the time is meant for you, it will happen. I always tell my other business friends, enjoy the process. Success comes with a lot of stress! You might think you’re ready for it but most of the time…you’re not. I’ve also learned over the past few months that you really have to put in the work. Not just posting 3-5 times a day on social media.. You need to do do market research, do a competition analysis, study your analytics, engage with your audience. The more work you put in, the more results you’ll see.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Baxic Luxe is a small but thriving business located in Buffalo NY. It is owned an operated by me, a young mother of two. The brand is built around self care as it has become a priority and a passion of mine that I desire to share with others. Baxic Luxe sells handmade, vegan body and skincare products that are formulated with love. Our products are for all the self-care lovers out there who deserve to treat themselves and their bodies like the luxuries that they are.
Being a mother is the reason Baxic Luxe was formed. I felt like i was sacrificing so much of myself to motherhood that I was neglecting simple tasks such as my self care routine. When I started making body butters for myself as a hobby, i instantly fell in love with my formulation, I knew it was too good not to share.
Of course, starting a business was not easy at all. With anything, you have to trial and test things out to see what works, I can probably count on 50 hands how many times i’ve wasted time, money, and resources in my business. But When you keep working hard, using those mistakes to analyze what went wrong and what you can do to make it better… It’s all worth it. It’s almost a necessity to go through things in business.
With Baxic Luxe, I always aim to build a family like Community with my supporters, I believe that’s what sets Baxic apart. We love and value our supporters dearly. Im always thinking of different ways i can please and entertain my audience.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I definitely have to give a HUGE shoutout to my business coaches Bianca and Jance. Bianca is the owner of Sassy Hair Mitchell. She has a 10 week beauty accelerator program that has helped me and my business tremendously! Jance is another on of my business coaches. She owns a boutique and coaching company called Brazen Boutique and the Boutique Academy. I am in Jance’s monthly membership for coaching so, I’m always being taught different topics on running a business to help me succeed. I adore both these ladies! They are so knowledgeable when it comes to selling online and i don’t know where my business would be with out their help. Thank you ladies.
