Meet Ashli Hopson | Writer & Advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashli Hopson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashli, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is authenticity. I write from a place of lived experience, vulnerability, and truth. Whether I’m crafting poetry or penning a non-fiction piece, I remain committed to telling stories that matter, stories that uplift, challenge, and inspire. Living with MS and working on a major medical study taught me how to listen deeply, communicate with clarity, and advocate for those whose voices are often unheard. My success has never come from trying to fit into a mold, but rather from embracing who I truly am; I am woman of faith, a survivor, a thinker, and a creative. That authenticity resonates with readers and makes my work not only relatable but enduring.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from most is my faith. My relationship with Jesus Christ has been the guiding force in every chapter of my life, through triumphs and trials alike. Living with multiple sclerosis for 18 years has tested my endurance, but it has never shaken my faith. Instead, it deepened my understanding of grace, resilience, and purpose. Faith has not only anchored me in moments of uncertainty but has also empowered me to see beyond my limitations and to walk boldly in my calling as a writer, poet, and advocate. Faith, to me, is not simply a belief. It is a principle that informs how I love, how I create, and how I endure.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my bestie were in town, I’d plan the ultimate three-day Atlanta adventure with equal parts flavor, fun, and feel-good vibes. We’d kick things off with a chic brunch at La Belle Vie Kitchen (hello, French flair!) and wrap day one with a luxe dinner at V12, arguably Atlanta’s best-kept secret. Day two starts with a Beltline stroll, breakfast at J. Christopher’s, and a little self-care at the Waldorf Astoria Spa. After recharging, we’d dive into bold flavors at El Azteca and end the evening with cozy vibes at J. Alexander’s. On our final day, we’d keep it classic with Waffle House, get our culture fix at the Atlanta History Center, feast on Thai at Golden Seven, and finish strong with mocktails and strikes at The Painted Pin.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge thank you to my Family and Friends who are constantly showing me unconditional love and support in all of my endeavors! I love you all to the moon & back!
