We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Frazier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, how do you define success?
I define success by smiles on my families faces. My kids being able to run around and experience big cities and small towns with homemade traditions. For my daughters to be behind the scenes assisting and helping out . We work as a family when we travel. I can’t wait to be able to successfully launch my own clothing line “Concrete Rose”. Styling has always come easy to me like some people can solve math problems in their head. I create different children’s clothing styles in my head. I like to think of it as a my own personal gift . Styling with other brands has brought a ton of inspiration for I want for my own line. I and am thankful for every opportunity. Special thanks Mrs. Jasmine for our first gig, a photoshoot for King and Lola, (Black Owned clothing brand created by a strong black queen) for which my sons are currently on the Nordstrom website.Miss Tori with Push for Progress , another Black owned clothing line we represent proudly ! My older son fell in love with the brand and it has brought him so much confidence! I measure success by the endless possibilities through the art of fashion. I only hope my clothing line Concrete Rose will be successful while serving and teaching others kindness and compassion. It’s time to give kids their flowers through fashion.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Ashley, a Bronx Born and Raised woman and children’s (mostly boys) stylist and clothing designer. I started working with my son when he was just 2 years old during covid because I noticed how well he did with the camera and how patient he was at such a young age. He is now 5 years old. I create the outfits in my head and through sketch work or put the outfits together at home and I gather all the items I need from business purchases and other various ways. I communicate with companies big and small and market what I do throughout his Instagram page @mister_put_it_on and he is now doing brand Ambassador programs for clothing lines like Jordan Craig Kids , King and Lola , Child’s play clothing and we are working with Young King Hair care as well as other brands . But I really want him modeling full time . So if anyone is looking for a kids stylist full time or part time or a kid model holla at us through the instagram page! @mister_put_it_on .we would love to pick up some more work. I put all his photos on his Instagram page @mister_put_it_on . And when I say he does just that’s he does just that. He shows up and makes faces that some adults can’t master. He is comfortable wearing almost anything and he tells me when he isn’t comfortable. He sets the tone for what he can and cannot handle. He is able to work well on his own with me hovering over him at photo shoots which helps a lot with the separation that most kids tend to have. He also has his big brother Braylen that participates with him in runway shows as well. So that helps me in knowing that my sons have one another while they are back on set. Doing this is not easy but it’s well worth it. You have to be consistent. I would definitely say consistency is the key. Healthy breaks are a huge plus as well. Give yourself grace sometimes because it’s not easy. There are so many people that want in on the fashion world. My biggest piece of advice I give that I once received and I take is “staying in my own lane”. I put together outfits that your normally wouldn’t see on children. Which is what I love.I love making a stamp and being different while remaining positive and doing it for a cause. I have learned that you can’t please everyone and you most certainly can’t take everyone with you. I also learned that genuine support is priceless. You don’t have to make a purchase to support your friends and family, spread the word! I want the world to know that “Concrete Rose” is coming soon . A clothing line that’s going to give kids their flowers!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born and raised in New York so when I’m in the city I would say the best place to go is Washington heights “Yeeeeeeeeerrrrr” lol iykyk It’s where I grew up ,the city that raised me! I love the whole city. From the food, to the fashion, the fast paced streets to the dancing The mixture of culture and diversity. The food , the people, the hustle and bustle. I love it! When we are in Atlanta (I like to call it our second home) we like to go to the Lennox mall. ( they have everything you can think of) we like to walk around the Olympic park where you can find the aquarium and the world of Coke a cola.. but we really love to to just drive around the city. See the people roll the window down. Hear the music . Take in the culture. The art . Go visit the Trap Museum if you haven’t BTW. Nice little gem in the heart of ATL.
and we have decided to make Atlanta our permanent residence. So we are currently working on relocating! ATL here come the Frazier’s
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost shoutout to god for keeping my family covered while allowing me to pursue my dreams. Thank you to Jasmine (king and Lola kids) , Tori ( Push for progress kids) and Junius (Jordan Craig) for giving us a chance. For seeing my 5 and 9 year old fashion kings Tristan and Braylen. Shoutout to my sons for holding it down during long photos shoots and runways shows. And to my wonderful husband for allowing me to be me. For you I am forever thankful.
