We had the good fortune of connecting with Art Stroman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Art, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson my business/career has taught me is what I call the 3 p’s: presentation, production, patience. Presentation is everything. How you present yourself and your business is pivotal to whether or not someone becomes interested in what you have to offer. This is why that 1st impression is so important. 1st impression of yourself, your actual product/service and your website/marketing.
Production is the product or service you offer and what drives it. Knowing your audience/customer is key. NEVER stop being productive and active as there is always something that can be done.
Patience is the most important of all. Trust the process! I have what I call the 3-5 yr rule. Before you start your business understand it will probably take 3-5 yrs for that business to really be as productive as you are hoping. Most people quit between year 1 and 2 before they ever really gave there business a fair chance at success. Be patient.
What should our readers know about your business?
In my personal opinion what sets me apart from most people is that I have never been scared of rejection nor traveling/working outside of my comfort zones. I have a understanding that timing is everything so I have a don’t quit mentality which allows me to completely trust the process.
Im most proud of just knowing that I created a brand completely from scratch and to see where it is today is just a true testament of believing in your self. From brain storming the name of the brand, to hand drawing the logo, to literally working every aspect and phase of running the business, to starting out with just t-shirts and hoodies to now selling everything from sneakers to sunglasses is truly amazing.
I can honestly say it hasn’t been easy, but being confident and believing in what I created made it a no brainer. I say all the time, how can a business owner expect a customer or their audience to buy into or believe in what it is they are doing if the owner or the members of the team don’t buy into or believe in it themselves. When challenges were present I simply just didn’t give up. Its really that simple, don’t quit! Learn from your mistakes, stay creative and don’t get comfortable.
I just want the world to know that Art Stroman, a kid from VA Beach created a timeless brand that is more than just someone’s first and last name or there initials. From the name, to the logo, to the meaning behind the brand, everything has been thoroughly thought out to give a perfect combination of fashion, style, fitness and motivation. F-FIVE was created to inspire people to feel better, be better and do better. As we always say, “Every day is a new day. Start fresh, be fresh, and be you. It’s more than just a brand. It’s a Life Style”.
F-FIVE “Refreshed & Reloaded”
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In a non covid situation and depending on the time of the year, I would probably go to these locations and in no particular order: Atlanta Hawks basketball game
Atlanta Braves baseball game
World of Coca Cola
Tyler Perry Studios
Atlanta Breakfast Club
No Mas Cantina
The Sun Dial Restaurant
La Fitness (gotta workout)
Stone Mountain (hike/jog to the top) Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout has to go to any and everyone that has ever supported me overall with all my business endeavors. Please know that your support has never gone unnoticed. As a entrepreneur, I’m thankful for every customer and every family member and friend that has ever liked, shared or commented on a business related post. And to all that have purchased product or paid for a service that I offer, I am tremendously thankful for all the love and support, as I would not be able to do what I do without you.
Now I also have to give a special thanks to someone who originally was a client I did a gig for yrs ago, but over the years has grown to be nothing short of a mentor, but more importantly a great friend who I like to call my big bro. I know he knows how I feel about what he does, but most people don’t understand what he’s really doing, and not only just for me but for soo many other men of color. Mr. William Young is the Owner of Krave Magazine, Krave Fit Magazine and Weight2wear fitness clothing line and through his publications he has given me and soo many others a spot light to share our greatness. And I personally have been blessed to learn directly from him, some of the ins and outs of branding and the retail business. So thanks Will for the constant love, support and friendship.
