We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Sprague and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The one thing about the automotive detailing industry that outsiders are often unaware of is the time and physical labor aspect. It takes a significant amount of time to produce excellent results especially when we are polishing paint or applying a ceramic coating. We can spend upwards of 8 hours on the exterior alone.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The biggest challenge I faced early on was a lack of space. I started from scratch out of a Ford Mustang, and it wasn’t easy having everything tossed into a small car. Besides the car being small, I was also concerned about what my customers would think when they saw me pulling up in a Ford Mustang. Most mobile detailers I knew had vans with fancy setups and water tanks. However, I figured out a way to make it work until I could afford a van. My customers didn’t seem to be too concerned about what I drove, they wanted their car detailed at all costs. Anther challenge I faced early on was getting the brand out there. I found Google and did a lot of advertising on patch and Facebook to target local audiences with a limited budget. I also made sure to ask for Google reviews whenever possible. I would love the world to know that Andrew’s Auto Care is committed to providing excellent service, and making sure all of our customers are satisfied. I am excited about expanding my business so I can offer even more services.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I always start out with the popular tourist attractions, like the aquarium. The aquarium is amazing. Sure other cities have aquariums, but none like ours. The world of coke is always an interesting tour and it seems to get my guests talking. A stroll through Centennial Olympic Park is always nice- my family has brick down there, so I always like to show it off. Maybe a concert over at the tabernacle if there’s a good band in town. After the touristy things it’s nice to settle down and head to little five points; it’s such a fun neighborhood and great for people watching. Last but not least: Ponce City Market. All of the restaurants and shops make this the perfect ending and will leave guests wanting to come back!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many people to thank who have supported me to get to where I am today! To name just one is almost impossible, but I would say, my Dad, Chris Sprague is a standout. He has been a tremendous help in getting my business started. He has guided me through some crazy times and has always been a listening ear. He’s helped me through difficult situations and has shown me how to get through when times are tough.
