We had the good fortune of connecting with Ambrose Carroll and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ambrose, what do you attribute your success to?
Sticktuitivenes is the most important factor behind my brand. Green The Church was born I’d say in me. For the past 15 years through multiple Pastorates, and a growing family, the need or desire to help bring forth the Beloved Community upon this crusted earth has been something that I just could not let go of. The notion of Green The Church Haunts me.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Green The Church is a sustainability initiative leveraging the influence and purpose of the Black Church to expand its role as a beacon for environmental and economic resilience. As the premier ecological organization within the Black Church, we educate faith communities, environmental advocates, and practitioners to collaborate in “Greening” the Black Church to benefit our communities and the planet. Our vision is to engage over 20,000 faith communities and establish ourselves as the most significant repository and catalyst for the global environmental and sustainability movement within the Black community.

Currently, we are helping hundreds of Black Church to develop Revenue Generating Energy Hubs, with Solar, Battery and EV Charging capabilities.
Green The Church equips its members to operate at the intersection of environmental justice, sustainability, and Black Church advocacy. Over the past 15 years, we have built a growing repository of congregations engaged in the climate movement. Our work focuses on three core pillars:
GTC Green: Amplifying Green Liberation Theology.
GTC Red: Promoting Sustainable Practices.
GTC Black: Building Power for Political and Economic Change.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Listen, when I was a Seminary Student at the Interdeminational Theological Center, the Morehouse School of Religion, On Sundays we would hit about 5 churches a day just to hear the sermons and to be in the place of gathering. So I would take folks to church. From Ebeneezer, to Wheat Street, to New Life Presbyterian to New Birth and beyond.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out the dedicated Black Woman of the African American Church. These Church Mothers have been the wind beneath my wings. I always say, “If you see a turtle up on a fence, you know it did not get there by itself. So to women like my Wife Katresa Carroll, Mrs. Audrey Hollins, and Deacon Joan Hawkins, Green The Church would not be what it is today.
