Meet Allison Fillmore | Executive Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Fillmore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, how does your business help the community or world?
The PGA TOUR is such a community focused organization. I am proud to say the PGA TOUR alone has donated over 3 billion dollars since it’s inception to charitable organizations in the communities in which we play. The TOUR Championship alone has donated over 34 million dollars since 1998 to the East Lake Foundation, First Tee of Metro Atlanta, the Grove Park Foundation and Purpose Built Schools Atlanta. The East Lake Foundation was established to revitalize the East Lake neighborhood, generate new opportunities for the families living there, and create a vibrant community where all residents thrive. Over the last twenty-five years, the Foundation has proven that working with residents and public and private partners, while providing the right combination of comprehensive programs and services, is transformative for the community. The mission of The First Tee® of Metro Atlanta is to positively impact the lives of Metro Atlanta’s young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. GROVE PARK FOUNDATION is dedicated to revitalizing the Grove Park neighborhood in West Atlanta and improving the quality of life by working with local partners, leaders and residents to create a healthy, equitable and vibrant community. Purpose Built Schools – By combining the best of traditional public schools with the best of charter schools, they offer a proven program designed to put all students on a trajectory for success through college and in their careers.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am lucky enough to have been in sports my entire career. I started as a account executive in sales and have encountered many different obstacles along the way – from being told I am not going to get a job because I am a female to have a league fold and losing my job. Every set back is an another opportunity is how I look at it. An opportunity to do something different, to learn a new skill or to start something new. I have worked in the NFL, WNBA, NASCAR, NBA, minor league hockey and now the PGA TOUR. I have learned so much from each stop in my career. Since I have been with the TOUR, I have helped increase revenues and made the TOUR Championship a household name. However this has probably been the hardest year of it all. Covid-19 has impacted us all and I am looking forward to hosting fans at the TOUR Championship in 2021.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I would start off hitting some of the awesome TOUR Championship food partners – Chris Hall’s Local Three as well as Muss and Turners! All of Justin Anthony’s restaurants are awesome – Biltong Bar and Yebo Beach/Ski House are musts! I would also want to hit up Ponce City Market and Krog Street to give her some more choices and then grab a drink on the rooftop. We would try and play golf at East Lake of course and then maybe talk a stroll on the beltline. Check out some of the awesome spots in Decatur as well. One of my favorites is 246 – they have the yummiest homemade pasta! Taqueria Del Sol has amazing taco’s and then for a great breakfast hit up Home Grown. We would check out the Battery too and hit up a Braves game. That’s what I love about Atlanta – there is so much to do!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is to my family. First off, I couldn’t do what I do without the support of my husband. He has been with me through every step of my career and actually was the first person to really take a chance on me when he handed my resume to my first employer, the Cleveland Lumberjacks. When I am down, he picks me back up. When I am on my high horse, he grounds me. He is the true definition of a partner. My girls drive me to be my best every, single day. I do what I do so they see that women not only can hold leadership positions but also know that in a male-dominated industry they have the opportunity to soar and shine!
