We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisha Kenshe’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alisha, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Atlanta, Ga- Gwinnett county to be exact. Being from Atlanta gave me a love for black culture. As I grew older, I started to appreciate this more especially the music scene here.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So, I am an A&R as well as a podcast host. My podcast is called Kulture Talk Live where I interview people from all over the culture and have a live audience. I started this journey by just starting to hang out in the East Atlanta Village going to showcases and eventually started working with an artist named Franceau The God (now just Franceau). I was able to land him a meeting with 300 record label. While the deal never went through, the whole experience made me hungrier and I have been in love with this music stuff ever since! This journey was not easy at all. I’ve had plenty of hiccups along the way which inspired me to go back to school. I recently graduated with a degree in Entertainment Business! I have learned to always know the business aspect of things and always be an asset!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would absolutely take them to Copper Cove!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a few people that I have met along my journey that I would love to get credit to! I would have to start with my mentor Asantewaa Ricks who gave me my first paid A&R position. Maine who when I met at the Dreamville sessions many years ago was an A&R at Dreamville. He is the person that inspired me to want to be an A&R. Lastly, Lucas over at Streamcut who was the first person to believe in me being a podcast host and allowed me to record at Doppler studios for free! I appreciate these individuals so much!
