How do you define success?

TV, Movies, and culture in general sometimes paints a narrow, specific image of what success is, but we know from our conversations with some of the best and brightest that success can mean vastly different things to different people.

I believe that success is a very personal state of mind. To some, success means having lots of money. To others, it could mean having great communication in their relationships. To me, success means being able to live my “Ikigai”, which is music. The Ikigai is a Japanese concept referring to something that gives a person a sense of purpose, a reason for living. Overcoming those challenges that you confidently did your best to achieve while being content with the progress that you made to achieve said challenge(s). And I say it in that way because people tend to think and I use to think that success only reigned acceptable if I obtained something – as in an award or accolade. When in all reality, success is blossomed into its own many different forms such as finally finishing a task you’ve been procrastinating with or exercising a little bit longer than before even down to devoting more time out of your day to spend time with God. As a seasoned Healthcare professional, my definition of success goes beyond just reaching the pinnacle of my field and gaining recognition as an expert in my area of expertise. Success, to me, is also about embracing fresh challenges and pushing the boundaries of my knowledge. It entails a continuous journey of learning and personal growth, actively seeking out novel opportunities to enhance my skills and broaden my experiences.
