Hi Danielle Marie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The vision behind my brand was to create an avenue for women who want to transition to natural hair, to have professional and local resources for obtaining healthy natural hair.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets I Woke Up Curley LLC apart from your typical hair salon is, we’ve built a foundation to educate our clients on maintaining and growing healthy hair. We Specialize in a variety of treatments and formulate personal hair care regimens to help you obtain your hair goals. I am most proud of the support that I’ve received from my clients, community, friends and family who have all believed in my vision. The reason I have been able to overcome so many obstacles is because of the faith they’ve had in my dream. During my journey, I’ve learned to (“Be Scared, and do it anyway). I would like the world to know that this is a growing brand that thrives off the support of the community. Our goal is to be a source and a force for the natural community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
With moving to Atlanta and being in the natural hair care industry, I have become accustomed to living a healthier lifestyle. Some of my favorite places for daytime fun are Tassili’s Raw Reality, Slutty Vegan, and the Beltline. For nights I enjoy The Battery or Edgewood Avenue.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person I deem most responsible for my education in natural hair care is my mentor Syreeta Scott ( Owner and Founder of Duafe Holistic Hair Care) in Philadelphia, Pa. While working beside Syreeta, I not only developed a love for natural hair but also a passion that has sparked my business and pushed me to new heights in my career.
