We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Ollie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I genuinely enjoy shopping, in creating DoseofStyle, a personal shopping service, I wanted to cater my services to people who do not enjoy shopping or don’t have the time to shop. After creating my business my thought process centered around reaching my audience. And then came COVID-19 which forced me to revamp my strategies. I went back to the drawing board and decided to make DoseofStyle more than a shopping service, but a brand. My motivation behind creating a business in fashion has always been to push confidence through style. My thought process continues to center around reaching my audience. After cultivating the meaning behind my brand, I know now to push the brand not the service.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m proud that I created an avenue to express myself! Both of my businesses were birthed from my passion to write and style. I didn’t let my age, lack of knowledge, or life get in the way of creating my blog or personal shopping service. There may be obstacles that stand in the way , but I’m learning to reevaluate how I look at obstacles. For instance, when COVID-19 came and shook the world we once knew I instantly felt overwhelmed. However, I realized how much I needed this time to refocus. This quarantine was the best thing that could’ve happened to me because it allowed to revamp my business plan and create a brand that represents me! I’m a plus size female that struggles with being confident in my body type, but it’s my job as a stylist/personal shopper to push confidence through style. Now, I have a store that encourages women to be bold, confident & comfortable in who they are! I’m excited about the future of DoseofStyle and connecting with a new audience.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I honestly am the worst person to ask where to go! But I enjoy going to arcades like Dave & Buster’s or TopGolf. I need a few recommendations myself!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my entreBAEneur (boyfriend), Timothy Jenkins. He’s my muse, inspiration, partner, & biggest supporter! Thanks for being a consistent supporter in my life!
