We had the good fortune of connecting with Thomas Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thomas, how do you think about risk?

I think taking risk is a necessity in life to achieving your professional and personal goals. Its not always easy to do, and  sometimes you have to learn the hard way, but I have found the reward of risk taking is usually always worth it. Another  benefit of risk taking is that you are able to gain knowledge through experience, which is priceless.

Taking risks has played a huge role throughout my education and career. Without taking risk, it would have never been  possible to start my own business. From approaching early job interviews differently than others, to taking an unusual  design approach for a project, I have always been willing to take a risk. I would encourage anyone in there career to take a  risk on what they believe in and they surely wont regret it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

We are a boutique architectural design firm based here in Atlanta Georgia. Our office specializes in residential design from  small remodels to new construction. We strive in client satisfaction and approach every project based on the clients spe cific needs and design goals. Our central office is in Peachtree Hills and we also have a satellite office in Decatur for larger  client meetings and design critiques.

We take pride in our team and design process here at i20 design, and think one of the biggest advantages that our office  provides to the client, is being a “one stop shop for design”. We offer both architectural and interior design services and  also consult the civil and structural documents that may be necessary for a project. Having this seamless design process  ensures the client will achieve the best possible design.

We not only strive for beautiful and creative design but we also cherish and take great pride in the relationships created  with our clients and everyone involved in the process.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

If they were visiting for the first time, I would try and give them a little of everything that Atlanta has to offer. We would  have to catch a sporting event, either the Braves or Atlanta United would be fine. I was a little skeptical about the Braves  leaving the city, but after having a blast at Suntrust Park the last few seasons, it is surely worth the drive. If its an Atlanta  United game, we would take Marta down to the Mercedes Benz Stadium to get the full experience. Midway over in East  Atlanta or Brewhouse in L5P are great venues to sit with local United fans.

Atlanta is know for it’s Olmstead parks and tree canopy, so of course we would have to stroll and ride bikes along the belt line. This may be worth doing several times, at different sections, as there’s so much to see and do. If we needed to refuel  along the ride we might pop in at A Mano’s in 04W, Box Car along the westside trail, or Anna’s BBQ over in Kirkwood.

If the visit is during the summer, we would have to try and catch a neighborhood festival or two. Atlanta is immersed with  so many beautiful neighborhoods and experiencing them during one of there annual festivals really helps show off the  Atlanta lifestyle. Inman Park Festival, Chili Cook Off down in Cabbagetown, or Porch Fest over in Oakhurst would be a few  that come to mind amongst so many great neighborhood events.

Atlanta is of course known for its music, so trying to catch some live music at the Fox, Tabernacle, Variety Playhouse or  Terminal West would be worth the ticket as those venues are some of my favorites. Chastain or Lakewood amphitheater  would also be great for an outdoor showing.

If they wanted to get out of the city and into nature, I would suggest a quick drive up to one of the beautiful towns in  north Georgia. The mountain breeze and beautiful scenic lakes and rivers of north Georgia would surely help recharge the  spirit before returning to the city grind. If we had a little more time, another getaway would be to ride south and experi ence the majestic cotton field roads of south Georgia and perhaps end up at Providence Canyon State Park or somehwere  along the magical Flint River.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I want to give a huge shoutout to all of our clients and consultants that we have had the pleasure of working with since we first opened our doors. None of this would be possible with out your support. We have been blown away by the amazing relationships we have created from the client to the builder and everyone in between. Thank you for making our business possible!
