Meet Ishmael Cotton | Music Producer & Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ishmael Cotton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ishmael, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My dad, the late Alex Cotton, produced music when I was younger, so watching him growing up sparked something in me to want to do it too. I loved how he could take nothing and use his creativity to make it into something.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from others is, the same energy I put into one artist/client, is the same I put into all. I treat everyone as An A List celebrity. I’m most proud that I can do what I love as a career and not have financial hardships. I’m only here because of the grace of God. It’s only because of God I’m able to do any of this. He blessed me with these gifts, so I never take it lightly when I get the opportunity to do this. The lesson I’ve learned along the way is, TRUST GOD!!!!! If you listen to Him, everything will work out. I want everyone to know that we are a group of peopl that love creating God pleasing services, for creatives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’ll probably go to the French Quarter, and grab some food, walk around and catch some live music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout my family, my grandfather Eugene Cotton lll, my uncles, Aldon Cotton, Aaron Cotton, Anthony “Tony” Cotton, the late Allen Cotton ll, & my dad the late Alex Cotton…also notable mentions my first music director Jerry Henderson, Maize Warren, and Apostle Terry Gullage. These people helped shape my music career
