We had the good fortune of connecting with Keenyn Majors-Petersen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keenyn, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
You don’t give up. That isn’t an option.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Kulture Kreations ATL, LLC is your primary source for “Art for the Kulture!” I work with mica powders and epoxy/resin to create a special, one of a kind work of art for your home decor. You choose the color scheme, and I bring your vision to life! Kulture Kreations ATL, LLC is currently known for our signature Africa trinket trays. Our Africa trinkets trays are a perfect home for your jewelry, perfumes, “after-work activities,” etc! They make the most amazing gifts for friends and family.
What sets Kulture Kreations ATL, LLC apart from others is that we work on a larger scale than most resin artists. We create timeless pieces that you will be able to pass down to your children/loved ones. I have noticed there aren’t many African American resin artists and as a black woman, I would love to see more artists who look like me in this field. I hope to be an inspiration to those up-and-coming. Our goal is to provide a more cultural approach to pieces that are unique, practical, and conversation starters. We are selling online on Instagram (@KultureKreationsATL) and our website KultureKreationsByKeyz.com. You can also find us at local pop-ups in and around Atlanta.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh! It is so much to do in Atlanta. We would have to check out Slutty Vegan ATL. The food, as well as the customer service is BOMB! (Black owned!) Maybe check out The High Museum of Art, Ponce City Market or Lil 5 points, and for dinner we are going to Apt4B in Buckhead. (Black Owned!) then head to Whiskey Mistress for drinks & hookah.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My sisters. Though we aren’t related by blood, this group of women keep me uplifted, motivated, honest and inspired. I’ve gotten through some of my darkest and brightest days with them by my side and I wouldn’t be who I am without them. It really does take a village.
My love, Nkosi. So thankful for him.
and of course, my mom, Robyne. She really is the best.
